I have shunned all products containing palm oil in all its devious alternate names like Octyl Palmitatate
I discovered this in a teeny ice-cream shop in San Francisco and have never looked back. Having been a Nutella addict all my life, I was crushed when I discovered the truth about one of its ingredients, palm oil. As an animal lover and advocate, since learning that orangutans are slaughtered in order to harvest palm oil, I have shunned all products containing palm oil in all its devious alternate names like Octyl Palmitatate, Palm Fruit Oil, Palm Kernel, Palm Kernel Oil, Palm Stearine, Palmate, Palmitate, Palmitic Acid, Palmityl Alcohol, to name just the tip of the iceberg (look it up). Even when the ingredients list says just "vegetable oil," 99% of the time it'll be palm, because that's the cheapest and most plentiful (thanks to the amount of orangutans slaughtered and rainforest decimated in order for so much of it to be harvested). When I saw this at Bi-Rite in SF, I was delighted that it was not only palm oil-free, but also organic. Taste was secondary to me, and even had it tasted inferior to Nutella, I still would have stuck with it. BUT much to my taste buds' delight, it was, if anything, way better than Nutella, and made Nutella taste like some synthetic compound with undertones of plastic. Nocciolata is closer to the European version of Nutella in consistency and taste. This is just so creamy and scrumptious and milky good that I agree with all the other 5-star reviews that it is extremely difficult, if not impossible, to put it down upon opening. So buyer beware!!!! And please stay away from palm oil. It's so hard, sometimes it seems like 99% of the products at the grocery, whether food or household or personal care, are made with the stuff, but if you google "palm oil and orangutans" I think that'll be enough incentive to stay away. Thank you Nocciolata, I'm forever in your debt....except my waistline isn't!

No, don’t open the jar…nooooo! Don’t do it!
Gosh, this stuff is addictive. You’d think I’d know by now that once the jar is opened, that means it’s gone in the wink of an eye. There is no “I’ll save some for later.” And after doing some comparison shopping, it’s easy to see why it comes out on top when compared to other brands that have a graininess to them, or were oversalted, or have an icky oily layer that separates, or contain filler because the company “went cheap” and uses some almonds as well as hazelnuts to keep costs down. This product is as smooth as silk, has no crunchiness or graininess, never separates, and the ingredients list absolutely no junk, filler, chemicals, or preservatives. It is like a heavenly chocolate-hazelnut cloud on a spoon, which is why it’s hard to stop eating it. I wouldn’t even waste some by spreading it on bread; that would ruin it. The only thing I can think of that could improve the product is to use a jar that has a better shape. The current octagonal-shaped jar is something of a pain in the neck when you want to consume every last bit of chocolatey goodness from the jar. The stuff hides in all the nooks and crannies of the jar, and the only thing that will work is a rubber spatula and 10 minutes of your time to get it all out. All in all, a top-notch product in every way.

Forget Nutella! - this is much healthier & richer in flavor
much richer chocolate & nut (& real vanilla) flavor compared to Nutellain comparing ingredient & nutrition labels it becomes apparent why… Nutella dilutes their mix with more sugar, artificial flavorings like vanillin and other ingredients (some potentially toxic?)… whereas Rigoni Di Asiago uses all organic ingredients & real vanilla, and is made in a country where European food regulations ensure top quality ingredientscheck out the FDA.gov website and you'll find that "Vanillin" is actually a by-product of the paper industry, chemically treated to mimic the flavor of vanilla, and worse, if the source of the vanillin is from Mexico, it could be Ethyl Vanillin derived from coal tar….why eat chemicals, when you can eat real vanilla & chocolate, nuts, & sugar?Thank you Rigoni di Asiago for creating such a fine product, and for making the effort to bring it to the US!

We like that this is free of all the bad things
Delicious!!!!It is worth every penny to buy this spread. Creamy, true hazelnut taste with the right balance of cocoa. We like that this is free of all the bad things, and the customer service is terrific. We have it on crepes, sandwiches, on a spoon straight out the jar and mixed in with ice cream. We have even taken it with us traveling, knowing that other brands may be available, but this is the one we love.
