Annual mugwort, as the name suggests, is a plant that flowers once a year and part of the daisy family. Its prevalence stretches from China to North India and Iraq towards Southern Europe. In southern and central Europe it is considered a neophyte. In Austria and Germany, as well as Liechtenstein, its prevalence and appearance are very unusual. In Germany, it can really only be found flowering along the river Elbe once a year. The effects of the annual mugwort are mainly known within traditional Chinese medicine. Over there, it has been particularly successful in treating malaria.
