This volume makes sense of the royal dynasties. Written in the style of 'family history', it's easier to follow than others on the subject. A good book to have by your side, when studying egyptology.

Die Pharaonen standen schon oft im Mittelpunkt einer Veröffentlichung. Ihre göttliche Seite, die Herrscher dieses besonderen Landes, ja, auch das kennt man. Aber die Pharaonen waren auch Menschen - undhier ist endlich die Möglichkeit auch ihre Familien, Ehefrauen, Kinder und Mütter kennenzulernen. Für mich eine Bereicherung!

this is the ultimate reference book for anyone needing/wanting information on the dynasties of ancient Egypt and their rulers. I use it often just to look up a fact or two or do a little reading on a favorite subject of mine...very easy to use. Aidan Dodson makes the information interesting and easy to read...he is a favorite of mine and extremely knowledgeable. I have several of his books and look forward to acquiring all of them.

A great reference book about the many royals that lived during the long period of time encompassed by ancient Egypt. Great for beginners; it's an aid for anyone wanting to know about more about those fabled times. The lists are comprehensive and fill out sketchy periods in Egypt's history.

Lovely book. I thought the actual images and depictions of ancient Egyptians was splendid and not based upon an image that isn't accurate, such as a painting of what someone believed was the identity of the ancient Egyptians.

This is very readable and informative. I use it as a reference . All history lovers should have it.

Something I have wanted since m y schoolboy days. A descriptive chronology with interesting commentary, not dry at all.
