Forgotten discipline.
Frankly, this is a discipline long forgotten and why maintenance costs are now causing high overhead. The philosophy of replace with new every 5 years is not the most economical in terms of being green, or cost effectiveness. Unfortunately, not many people do the numbers and understand operational cost and total life cycle costs....its just a replace, replace mentality without understanding how to improve or develop a product during the life cycle. If we want to be green, we need to replace every 10-20 years or we will be living in our garbage.

Review of "Reliability-Centered Maintenance Second Edition
Must appreciate the way this book is written, continuity of subject is maintained that makes it easy to understand, keeps reader involved and help retain the knowledge gained. Author's knowledge and experience is evident. Highly recommend 1) to those who wish to have a good understanding of RCM and 2) for your library.
