I like how it covers your neck and shoulders and goes on your back a bit giving you a very nice coverage when you are sore. I bought this as a gift and would buy it again. The person I gave it to loved it. It was going around the room at Christmas and everyone really loved it.

So this is something of a conundrum for me. This pad is great as it takes on heat or cooling but there is a large factor you personally must consider and determine once you get it; which one is better for you.The pad with the fleece-like lining makes for a better warming pad than a cooling pad, but if you generate heat, you might sweat, which will wick in to the fleece type material making it a bit clammy sooner than you'd like. Be very careful healing this up because I put it in the microwave for 3 minutes and it was too hot. So your microwave wattage and ability will impact this.As a cooling pad, I actually prefer even though I don't think it is as good as it functions as a heating pad. In a sense, it is similar to putting a cold pack from the freezer wrapped in a towel, just not as strong. This could be a good thing for you if you're looking for something that doesn't give you that cold ache like freezer packs (blue colored iced) do. But on the other hand, it won't penetrate like they do either.Not sure if that explanation helps. Oh, it does smell nice. There is a tiny bit of chemical smell from the casing, but the contents inside like the description mentions, make it smell good. That's always a bonus.

You can use heat or freeze it. his is designed to cover your entire neck, shoulders and upper back and has an additional piece sewn for the neck which is nice. I microwaved for 2 minutes and used for my neck and shoulders. At first seemed very warm but eased muscles and tenseness in a few minutes. My pad stayed hot almost 10 minutes and after warm and at twenty minutes could feel some warmth on the pad but didn't notice when worn. I did notice a light pleasant scent upon heating and picked up the lavender. The wrap is very soft and suitable for spot cleaning only. This is an open wrap and would have liked to be able to fasten it together. Recommend if could use the relief.

The lavender scent is not strong, which I appreciate, and the warmth and weight this heating pad provided my lower neck and shoulders was perfect.

Because of my office work, my neck and upper back gets tight easily. With this heating pad, it can really target that area. As my picture is shown, they are pretty thick and covers my whole upper back and neck. It can seem to retain the hot temperature from microwave well. When the weather gets hot, I will try putting it in the freezer to use it as a ice pad. It is relatively heavy; therefore, it doesn't fall even when I walk or type the keyboard.

I prefer the microwavable heating pads because they're easy to heat, and you're not tethered to a cord. This one is a shoulder wrap style and does stay on your shoulders. The flap for the neck also stays up, providing good heat for the neck. Why 4 stars then? It's quite heavy. I'm a small lady, and I find the weight a bit much on my shoulders.

This pad provides a soothing, comfortable warmth when heated to the right temperature, and it holds heat well enough to get a good ten to fifteen minutes of comfort from it. It has a pleasant but mild smell to it; nothing that will fill the house with aroma but noticeable enough to be relaxing. It is a little smaller and lighter than what would be ideal for me (but your size and mileage will vary), so I do recommend checking the dimensions carefully before purchasing.
