A decade ago, Hope Ann Greggory (Melissa Rauch) was America's sweetheart. Her inspired performance on a ruptured achilles at the world's most prestigious gymnastics tournament clinched an unlikely bronze medal for the U.S. team and brought glory to her hometown of Amherst, Ohio. But in the years since that epic third place victory, Hope hasn't done a whole lot with her life. Still living in her dad Stan's (Gary Cole) basement, still sporting her daily uniform of a Team USA gym suit with teeny-bopper bangs, ponytail and scrunchie, she spends her days at the mall milking her minor celebrity for free food and favors. Hope's routine is upended when she learns that she must coach Amherst's newest gymnastics prodigy Maggie (Haley Lu Richardson) in order to receive a sizeable financial inheritance. The hard-edged yet insecure Hope is faced with a serious dilemma: does she jeopardize her "hometown hero" status by devotedly training this rising star to achieve the dreams she never could? Or doe

Rauch is the star
This one gets an extra star because it's Melissa Rauch and I think she's amazing. There's two things that annoy the hell out of me about Big Bang Theory - number 1 the annoying trend they have picked up from Friends in recent years of one of the characters making a joke followed by a reaction shot from one of the characters laughing and number 2 that Melissa Rauch doesn't get more air time. The Big Bang troupe contains some very good actors in particular Jim whathisname and of course it also boasts an actual scientist. But Melissa Rauch is an actual writer as well as comic actor. There are some very, very funny lines in this script. It does come across a little mean spirited and I would have preferred Rauch to have exchanged silly for mean spirited in many of the film's scenes. However, for me, she can do wrong - she's brilliant and needs to be on our screens more so three stars and one bonus star because it's Melissa Rauch.

Immature but fun comedy
The crude humour spoils what is actually a rather sweet redemption story. We get that Hope is a spoiled brat without the need for such cartoonish characterisation. She feels like a SNL sketch rather than a real character. Even so, melancholic moments poke through her tough exterior & the scenes with her dad added some much needed sweetness. I loved the scene where he finally snaps & tells her to shut up.If they'd pulled back on the rather immature humour this could have been great. As it stands it just about gets away with it.

Great
Not usually a comedy fan but this film is outrageously funny and fun. Totally takes the biscuit and I love it.

Bronze gets the Gold in my book!!
Great movie starring Melissa Rauch (Big Bang Theory) like you've never HEARD her before!! She's a has-been living on a vague celebrity past (familiar??) and has to train an up-coming star who is as good, if not better than she is. She does learn a lot from the experience, but it doesn't stop her swearing for a moment!! IF YOU ARE PRUDISH, BEWARE! This movie contains a little masturbation, some very comical gymnastic sex and swearing all the way through! If this is likely to offend, stick with Disney!! For those NOT easily offended by life, enjoy! Melissa is fantastic!! Even the end credits feature a rap from Melissa which you will find under Melissa Rauch F-That on YouTube!!

Melissa Rauch of "The big bang theory", and Sebastian Stan from "Captain America" films star.
The heroine in the story shows the unpleasant side of a driven athlete after a cruel injury forces retirement from her sport. Of course she is redeemed by coaching someone from a younger generation. Spiteful, mean, and egotistical she has two suitors, an old fellow athlete and former lover, and the more likely better bet, the kinder, but softer gym owner. The funniest part of the film is where there is the brief re-acquaintance with the former lover, with aspects of the athlete's sport contributing to the evening. Great fun.

Unexpected gem.
Didn't know what to expect from this, but it was surprisingly funny and entertaining. Most of the laughs come from the potty-mouthed gym coach, but the film is well rounded and worth a watch.
