Finding family!
Although I just realized that I listened to book two before I read the first one, it did not diminish how much I liked it. I always love Robyn Carr's writing - locale, characters, intertwining family and friends' dynamics, and in this one Molly, the dog!In this book, Sierra, the younger sister to Cal from book one, is a recovering alcoholic escaping from a very troubled and scary past. After leaving rehab, she finds solace with her brother's friends and family in the small Colorado town of Sullivan's Crossing until her past catches up with her. It's both suspenseful and dramatic!Firefighter Cal is enamored with her from the moment she rescued Molly, an abused dog. He is the kindest, most compassionate man she could ever find. Once she recognizes this, she begins a new chapter in her life building stronger bonds with the family she chooses. It's truly a story of recovery and hope. I loved it and have now purchased the entire series!

A Story of Recovery and Hope
FINAL DECISION: Serious but not dark look at a woman who is trying to rebuild her life and the man she meets who helps her look to the future. Enjoyable and soul enriching story that focuses on hope and redemption.THE STORY: Sierra Jones has come to Sullivan's Crossing as part of the beginning of her new life. She comes to be close to her brother (Cal from WHAT WE FIND) as she works on her recovery from addiction. As she moves day to day in building a new life, she finds herself becoming part of the community and meeting Conrad (Connie) Boyle, a local firefighter with whom she begins spending time. But even as the future begins to unfold, darkness from Sierra's part threatens her future.OPINION: This is a serious and thoughtful look at a woman who is struggling to rebuild her life and the sweet man who doesn't want complicated, but can't help but be attracted to it.Sierra is a woman who is working hard to recover from her addiction. This book is unflinching in its portrayal but this isn't a downer book. Indeed, this book is about triumph and recovery and hope. I liked her as a person and I admired her determination to overcome her illness. I also admire this book for giving Sierra an addiction where there is still stigma. I can't help but cringe at reviews which complain about having a main romance character with an addiction -- as if such people are not deserving of a happy ending. I enjoyed flawed characters making their journey through the world. This book is serious, but not dark.I great deal of the lightness in this book surrounds Connie who is a gentle, giving soul. He is an uncomplicated man in that he just wants a happy ending and a family. Of course, Sierra upends those dreams but he is a good contrast to her and a great support. (Plus who can resist a sexy firefighter?)WORTH MENTIONING: This book takes a serious look at addiction and recovery.CONNECTED BOOKS: ANY DAY NOW is the second book in the Sullivan's Crossing series. While there are overlapping characters, this book reads as a complete standalone.STAR RATING: I give this book 4 stars.

I lovedo this second installment to Sullivan's Crossing series
In this installment of the series, Sullivan's Crossing, we meet Cal's sister Sierra. If you remember from the first book, "What We Find", Cal is a drifter who eventually marries Sully's daughter, Maggie. They are now having a baby and Cal's little sister, Sierra, comes for a visit. This book could be read as a standalone, but it would be best to read the first one before this one as it introduces certain characters that play a role in this story.Sierra is escaping a troubled past and hoping it doesn't catch up to her. She finds solace with the residents of the small Colorado town and Sullivan's crossing. I love her bond with Sully who ends up being a surrogate dad. Then there is Connie (Conrad) who helps her move on from her troubled past. Her bond with her brother just grows stronger and she begins developing a sisterly bond with Cal's wife, Maggie. This is a story of starting over, family, building relationships, and learning that your past doesn't define your future. Then there is the rescue dog that Sierra adopts. Sierra saves Molly from an abusive situation and she becomes the therapy that Sierra needs. Everyone falls in love with Molly, even the readers.Between Connie, Sully, Cal & Maggie, Sierra finally finds the family she needs.I love this book. I love the location, the characters, and, of course, the dog. The author really knows how to describe the scenery as if you are there and the characters so you really know them. This book is definitely worth reading and now I can't wait to read book #3."Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall. —Confucius

Second Chances
Sierra and ConnieI love this series because the characters get right to the point and lay all their feelings on the table. And the time lines to courting and love are realistic. I have seen authors develop a character like Sierra into an untrusting woman and the story drags on. But this story takes place after Sierra has done the work to take care of herself (out of fear and self preservation sure) before even entertaining adding things or people to her life to further complicate things. I hate that she went through what she went through, but I love the support system she found. This story reminds me that one everyone deserves a second chance and two everyone could use a great support system. On to book 3.
