Dr. Grace Devlin (Jordana Spiro, TV's "My Boys") is a promising young surgeon working in Chicago's most pre-eminent hospital. Still, she can't escape her Southside roots. With her kid brother facing a mobster's wrath, Grace makes a deal and agrees to work "off book" for the infamous Chicago Outfit. As Grace's "day job" forces her to take on emotionally compelling cases - a convict determined to donate his heart to his estranged daughter, a whole family injured in a horrific hit-and-run - she is also forced to deal with mob-related tasks, doing emergency medical procedures in back rooms, treating mobsters hiding from the law and even working on a stolen thoroughbred only hours before he's due to race. Through it all, Grace fights to keep her dual life a secret...except from the one man who knows Grace best - Southside mob boss Constantine Alexander (William Forsythe, TV's "Boardwalk Empire"), whose relationship with Grace is more than it seems.

Broke the dvd just trying to get it out of the case
I love the show. Like all good tv shows, it was not renewed. I am giving this only 4 stars because the packaging of this set is so freaking terrible. the three discs are stacked (touch each other) all on a single center. likewise, the center is very foreign much harder to release the dvds. taking them all out together works okay; taking them out one by one.....i cracked the last dvd and it is unsalvageable. I'm very distraught and wish that I could get a replacement of that disc or could return this, since i couldn't even watch it before this happened......but i know this is mostly my fault.

season one, then canceled
William Forsythe is a great actor, often overlooked. maybe Tom cruise had some good movies, and Brad Pitt had some good movies, but aren't you sick of all the overkill press coverage of some of the A-listers. Forsythe in recent years is often typecast in television series and movies as a mafia boss, but he's still a great actor. Check out his performance in the early 1990s movie "The water dance." Mob Doctor lives up to its name: Its about a Mob Doctor: the big mob boss in town is the family friend that puts her thru school. The series strikes a good balance between hospital medical drama and crime drama. With a recurring role played by actor Michael Rappaport as a rival gangster. Although Rappaport in real life is the obnoxious, pompous street-tough that he plays in movies and television. Go to youtube, and see Rappaport in clips of the show "dinner for five," and see him bark to jon favreau, "jon! jon! jon!!" as if the other three people werent at the table.

Different plot than others, and well played. Nothing worthy of an award, especially the writer and director.

Worth a Look
Love this show. Nice balance of suspense and drama, plus the story line kept a proper pace. Kinda bummed it only got one season but at least it finished well.*Seller* Package arrived on time, well packed and in perfect condition. Disks had no marks or scratches and had no issues playing on PC or XBOX One. Very satisfied.

Interesting Premise and Interesting Actors
This is one good show. It is interesting in its story as well as well written and well acted. The Chicago mob types are quite real..almost as real as Sopranos guys!! I cannot believe that Fox cancelled. I do recommend that it be bought even for the one season - its good and the story does wrap up and does not leave the viewer hanging as do so many other cancellations. Carol T

Lots of history to sort out
I was happy with this pilot. Clearly, the doctor has a lot of history with the mob to sort out, all the way back to her dad.If it's handled well, this could make for a very interesting season. I look forward to finding out.The pace of the pilot was a little frantic, but there's always so much to cram into the first hour of a show, so it's to be expected.

John Forsyth is excellent! Too bad it lasted only one season. I wonder why? We had Dexter going & going & going. Why not Mob Doctor? m,m,m,m,..... Good show that they should reconsider bringing back with John Forsyth!!!

I really enjoyed this series. I was sorry to see it cancelled but I like having the DVD. The finale was excellent. Very surprising ending.
