English Grammar for Students of Italian: The Study Guide for Those Learning Italian

Refreshed my knowledge of English grammar and clarified the Italian terminology.

Am struggling to learn Italian. This book is a useful revision of the English grammar that I learnt at school sixty years ago. It relates that to Italian grammar, and it is a very welcome help in my efforts.

I find myself using this book a great deal when I need to understand or check Italian grammar. Easy to use, clear to understand and not a thick tome!

Brilliant book: clarifies what seem to the English mind to be oddities. I ahve this book for German and French as well and can thorughly reccommend it for anyone trying to speak and write in another language in a grammatically correct manner .

Very, VERY helpful for learners who weren't necessarily taught different grammatical terms at school or need a refresher. This isn't going to be the only grammar book you need if you are studying Italian but I found it more helpful than most. Highly recommended.

When we are learning a new language as a grown up, the language we already know tends to interfere. In the initial stages we are still thinking in English, trying to translate word for word and trying to find the reason behind Italian grammar rules by trying to co-relate what we know in English. This is an excellent book that highlights the differences and warns against where an English-speaker would tend to make the likely mistakes, without going into long-winding technical names for grammar.My only grouse, why I gave it 4 starts, is, if there were chapter-end short exercises to consolidate the points, it would be nicer. I found it very useful in my second year of studying Italian.

My knowledge of English crammed is limited (and a distant memory) so learning another language with all it's grammatical terms was difficult. This has been a great help in understanding my own language and therefor making the comparisons with Italian is much simpler.

As I had a rather poor education originally, I am finding this most useful in my study of Italian.

I am self learning Italian using two online apps. For me, telling me what to say doesn’t help if I don’t know why I am saying it. So, I also have a few books that explain Italian grammar. This by far is the most useful I have found.

What a great reference! I honestly don’t remember learning all the names of the parts of the English language, so that makes learning some concepts in Italian difficult. This makes it easy when trying to develop grammar skills. Highly recommend!

I'm learning Italian but struggling with the grammar concepts. In this book, they are explained in English, but examples are given in Italian. It's proving very helpful.The book arrived on time, carefully packaged and in perfect condition.

This book has been absolutely essential to my understanding of Italian parts of speech. I must admit I had forgotten much of English grammar since it had been quite awhile since elementary school for me. This guide lays out the which part of speech in particular you are trying to understand with comparisons first in English and then in Italian. It is basic, but that is exactly what I needed. I love seeing the sentences diagramed the way it was done in elementary school. Only then did it make sense to me. I can understand so much more of how Italian works thanks to this marvelous little guide book. Of the many Italian work books I've purchased in my quest to learn Italian, this one is by far the most helpful, because it will take you to the next level of speaking and reading once you grasp the positioning of the parts of speech in Italian by first understanding where and how they work in English.
