Useful for an implementation-oriented operating system course
Very detailed analysis of file system building techniques used in FreeBSD. Useful for an implementation-oriented operating system course. Some descriptions should, maybe, have less words and more code.

For those who care...
...to understand the technology behind rather than to enjoy an immediate root prompt to play with I do highly recommend to take a look at this book.

BSD is better than linux
Yes a book worth having. BSD tends to be under-rate in comparison to linux. Hope one day we have more quality BSD books. BSD is better than linux. Wait and see!

If you admin FreeBSD buy the fully mastery set .. you won't regret it.
The FreeBSD Mastery series is very a good set for anyone interested in getting the most out of FreeBSD. I've been using FreeBSD since 2.x over 20 years ago and I still find these books very useful especially for the ZFS coverage (volumes 7 and 9). Michael Lucas has a very engaging writing style and includes lots of useful command line examples.
