Q: After it cures, is the color a light gray like aluminum?

The H159 cures to a dark gray like aluminum. Thank you.

Q: I want to glue a metal bracket (either steel or aluminum), that will be holding 10lbs, to my stone fireplace. Will this do the job?

I don't know how much weight it would support, but if you were to wrap, screw or somehow fasten it and then coat it with the putty, it would hold things together. It hardens into a hard, steel-like material.

Q: Does it have to be kneaded to work?... or can it simply be flattened to mold into a thin plate or flat surface?

Yes. The hardener has to be kneaded withe resin for the epoxy to cure. You will need to knead it first and then flatten.
