Just as good as IM but different.
I can't really give the nod to either Iron Mind or this gripper but they are both built to last a life time. I also have other brands but I think this is the best comparison. I will give the pros and cons that I noticed. First the spread is wider than the IM gripper by probably a quarter of an inch. I feel the IM is slightly better in this area because it takes less effort to set the gripper. The nurling on the GHP handles is much harsher than the IM gripper. Novices will probably feel the nurling is too harsh on either at first until their hands season some. I don't really have preference but the GHP is less likely to slip in your hand if you don't use chalk. I give the GHP the nod as far as looks goes but most people won't care about the asthetics of a gripper. They are roughly the same price and I wouldn't let that discourage my decision either way. Which is harder to close the IM3 or the GHP Level 7? I have two IM3's and I can close both of them and hold them closed for quite a while. Even thought they are rated higher than the GHP it was obvious that the GHP was much harder to close even with the sharper nurling. It took about two weeks before I could close this gripper with a 30 mm set and I can dominate the IM 3 with the same set (still can't get either with the CC set). Keep in mind that the resistance varies on all grippers and one of my IM3's is harder than the other IM3 by a few pounds. So there is a chance that you would get a GHP7 and an IM3 with the same resistance or atleast within a pound or two. I doubt it is likely though. To sum it up, I think this gripper is every bit as nice as the IM grippers (probably nicer fit and finish). Functionally, there isn't much difference. If you already have an IM3 and aren't sure if you should get this one I would say their is enough differences between the two grippers that justifies buying this one. I like the slight increase in weight as it makes the IM3 feel much easier to close after training with negatives on the GHP.

Five Stars for Gillingham Hand Grippers!
I highly recommend this product, the High Performance Gillingham Hand Gripper Levels 9 & 10. I've been crushing hand grippers for several years now. This product has a nice shiny chrome finish which I like! It's solid construction, made in USA. The aluminum knurling is really rough on the skin when you hold it! I prefer to smooth the rough handles down with sand paper. I use mine for forced reps & negative holds using a Vulcan Thumbscrew attachment, the larger one for stability & with leverage on a low wall or standing object like a barstool beneath you, You would position the gripper with the thumbscrew handle inserted in the dog leg side of the gripper, down & with your opposite hand, insert your index finger in the coil of the gripper with the thumb pressing along the straight leg handle of the gripper for better control.Using your upper body weight, you can press down on the gripper until you can close it out or as far as you can close it.But before you get eager to crush it. I forgot to add that attaching the Vulcan thumb handle to the end of the dog leg side of the gripper might be a bit loose! So in order to close the gap to have a snug fit. You would tape off a quarter inch of the dog leg handle lets say with adhesive velcro tape the furry part to the gripper handle so it would secure tightly, then try to crush it! So yes realistically it's possible to crush a 375 lb. or 425 lb. gripper this way, a Level 9 & 10 hand gripper! With some time developing a strong upper body, Arms Shoulders, Lats, & Back, you too can crush a heavy gripper like this! Take care not to go ape crazy & overwork the gripper spring by doing too many repetitions! In time, I've actually broken two high end grippers this way! A Thor Strength Gripper "Zeus" rated at 525 lbs. & A Beef Builder Gripper"Grand Elite" 5/8" handle rated at 365 lbs.& I might add too that this was all done without needles or the use of pharmaceutical steroids! Yeah, yeah,I know! Honestly, I use a Tribulus stack, & whey proteins. Sometimes a Creatine or a N.O. Supplement along with fish oil & vitamins & don't forget the BCAAs (branch chain amino acids) just so you would know! Anyway, always train with safety in mind & start off gradually. I rate this product Five Stars,* * * * * !! I hope this was helpful! Until then, "Aloha!!" - Mike S.
