Larry Young is one of the most overlooked jazz B-3 organists. This 4-in-1 CD is well packaged, well recorded and is a must have for anyone who appreciated what Larry Young did during his short life span on the jazz scene.What I don't understand is how a CD shipped by USPS on Prime can take this long to arrive.

This is four of Larry's early 60 recordings. Because these are organ recordings a lot of people will make a comparison to Jimmy Smith but Larry has his own style even this early in his career. He uses Guitarist Thornel Schwartz and a drummer from Florida named Jimmie Smith as his basic trio. This is solid straight ahead jazz and it swings nicely. If you're not familiar with Larry he went on to work with Miles Davis (bitches brew) and Tony Williams trio as well as Jimi Hendrix but his roots are definitely jazz. Because he passed on at a very young age his contribution to jazz is quite often overlooked but the recordings I have heard are all masterpieces so when I saw this box set at such a low price I thought I had best check it out and I recommend you do the same. Larry Young plays with taste and went on to be one of the pioneers of the fusion movement.

Excellent album and a must have by Larry Young fans. This set shows how articulate Larry Young was in his early recordings. I love this album and so will you
