So Much Fun
I was not sure when I started this series whether or not I would read all of it. I was not excited to be potentially following a character who, in her late thirties, was drinking too much and chasing after men. However, I was so glad I kept reading, and after these 5 stories, I am ready for the rest of the series. There is very little bad language and the romance is generally kept fun and romantic. Hetta is an engineer who takes on jobs to investigate companies whose business practices are sketchy, to say the least. She is feisty, has a sharp tongue and an even sharper wit and a best friend Jan who is also terrific. Hetta even finds a man who invariably needs to come to her rescue after she and Jan get into deep trouble. He loves her anyway. It is fun reading about parts of Mexico and the US with which I am less familiar. She lives on a boat and has a dog which is a bonus for this reader.

Cafรฉ is Jinxed
This lady gets in more scrapes than the average bear. She manages to get out of all these crazy situations with the help if her best friend and many assorted acquaintances. Living in Baja I found her descriptions of the area true and believable. The stories were so far fetched that it kept me laughing.

Hetta Cafรฉ is hilarious
I laughed my head off throughout this collection of stories by Jinx Schwartz. The trip to Mexico on Hetta's renamed boat is particularly funny ... particularly the mispronunciation of Coffey as Hetta Cafรฉ. Yes there are other emotions involved, and yes, the writing is excellent. All up, this collection is well worth reading.

FUN & LAUGHS. TO READ
JUST THE PITTS.Hetta. In Mexico, hired to be a engineer consultant, of why they are having over charges. When a missing or dead guy turns up very much alive, but said it was the workers that were involved. The odd jinks we associate come into play and a different type of mystery comes into play. There is humor and with her friend Jan the plot is not dull.Sheโs forty, never dull, trouble and her are close friends it seems, loads of fun to read, and laugh..Great Collection, this is just one story.. Readers will enjoy

Hetta is a hoot.....
I bought the 4 book series based on high reviews. As I started reading the first book I thought I had made a huge error. The first book started out with two 30 plus women drinking and going from man to man. I don't enjoy reading about promiscuous woman who only care about sex and drinking. I almost stopped reading and was kicking myself for buying the entire series but decided to continue for a while longer. I hated the idea of having bought 4 books and not reading them.I soon found myself laughing at the trouble Hetta and Jan get into. Once Hetta buys her boat the drinking and jumping from man to man slows down. Hetta meets a decent man who treats her well and the books show her self confidence increasing. She doesn't lose her sharp tongue though and that is what makes these books so much fun. Their escapades take them into Mexicoand danger with the main men in their lives saving them a number of times. Hetta and Jan are a lot of fun once the drinking slows down and the boat escapades begin. Hetta and Jan end up dealing with hurricanes, dope smugglers and Hetta's aunt, who makes Hetta look normal. There are a lot of interesting characters in this series.I would recommend these to anyone who enjoys a mystery with a log of fun thrown in.

Best series, ever!
I began my Hetta and Jan adventure with a library audio book of "Just Add Trouble." I got it simply because my "road name" (motorcycle) is Trouble. I quickly got caught up in their hijinx (pun intended) and went back to the beginning to start my journey. I quickly went through all 10 (both box sets), and Happy Camper. I was so enamored by their trip to the Canal du Midi, that I plan to take the trip myself in October. Who new the self-drive canal boat is a THING??? Viva le Boat! I look forward to seeing the sights through their eyes while bicycling down the tow path....Thank, Jinx, for this wonderful adventure! Please write more; if they can keep Stephanie Plum going for 26 books, Hetta and Jan could easily stay in "Trouble" with Trouble for at least as many!

Hetta and Co.
If Hetta created a clothing line, it would carry all of the vibrancy of Mexico with tips and shreds in the fabric. As Mexico has become Hetta's second home onboard her 45 footer Raymond Johnson, her "handler" Trob finds her less than ethical Materials Management jobs that typically land her in life threatening hot water. Hetta is brassy and sassy, loves dogs, splits of champagne and fish tacos for breakfast. She is witty and crass. Her segues, witty references and nuances leave the reader in hysterics. Can't wait to read book 6!!

Four little jewels hitting a wee bit too close to home?
I read (and reviewed?) #5 first. Now I'm in overload, hence the four stars, an average taken over four books. Some of the characters are becoming tiresome: Hetta and Jan especially, shadowy Nacho by the end of #4 (where's the salsa?), and Trouble definitely. OK, maybe he's just annoying. It's nice to see some Spanish mixed in, but the author should get it right. The best way to take this series is in small doses. Bundling the first four together detracts from the fact that each one is a little jewel of a mystery/suspense/thriller book. #4 isn't wildly unbelievable, by the way. There are well-known ties between Middle East terrorist groups, South American terrorist groups, and drug traffickers (all that Afghan stuff has to go somewhere). And maybe that seems a wee bit too close to home for some readers, but live with it. Or, do something about it!

These first four books of Jinx Schwartz have been my best summer reads.Hetta Coffey is irascible, hilarious and impossible not to love.
These first four books of Hetta's adventures have been my best summer reads. Hetta Coffey is irascible, hilarious, and impossible not to love. Her escapades alternatively kept me on the edge of my seat, or laughing my head off. I highly recommend Jinx Schwartz's books and can't wait to get a hold of the rest.

Love these books
Love these books. They are fast paced fun and funny. Hetta is one bad ass sassy woman who gets herself and her friend Jan into and out of jam after jam, and catches the bad guys in the end. And its all ways accomplished in amusing ways.
