Pretty tasty in the wild
I've noticed that when camping or backpacking, everything tastes better. Maybe this is because it can be so much harder to prepare meals. This makes a hot meal easy, and is one of the better brands out there for dehydrated meals. We found this flavor to be hearty if a bit plain. It could use some spicing up. Not bad though, but also it may not be enough to feed two hungry adults.

Addition to camping pantry
I'm excited about this package of Backpacker's Pantry White Bean, Chicken, and Green Chile Stew. I'm a camper, not a backpacker, so I usually don't rely on backpacking meals when I'm away because they can be cost-prohibitive compared to foods that are heavier and require more preparation. However, I do keep a "basic meals" pantry box of quick, shelf-stable things I can eat with minimal preparation if circumstances require it. This meal makes a nice addition to that "just in case" stockpile.I have not tried my single envelope yet, but I'm confident that, between Backpacker's Pantry's reputation in the camping arena and my love of all things bean, I'll enjoy this. I did, however, take note of the nutritional panel clearly printed on the label. At 270 calories per serving (or twice that if you are really hungry and alone), they aren't especially loaded with calories. They are, however, quite high in protein, at 23 g per serving, and fiber, which is just under 30% of the daily recommendation. These are both great, in my experience. The carb count is higher than ideal for a low-carb diet, although certainly fine for an average diet and probably helps supply or replenish some necessary energy.Backpacker's Pantry has a reputation for healthy, tasty, filling meals for active campers. This stew adds another option, and is sold at a comparable price to similar products.

Lightweight and convenient
This camping/backpacking/travel/emergency pack is very convenient for camping or for storage as emergency rations. You can just add hot water directly to the pouch and in a few minutes it has reconstituted and is ready to eat.One pouch is enough for a good single-person portion, and it was filling. The beans reconstituted well and did not get mushy and it has good overall flavor without being too salty. Definitely could use a bit of hot sauce, easy enough to pack a little packet alongside this if you also appreciate the extra flavor and spice.Definitely on the pricey side, at $13 for a single one-person meal, which was the main reason I had to deduct one star. But I think that has become fairly common with prepackaged dehydrated meals even though I've never understood why.

Perfect for outdoors
I was surprised by how well I like this white bean, chicken and green chile stew. Simply add 1.5 cups of boiling water, stir, seal and wait. It rehydrates really well and tastes good. I found it to be sufficiently flavorful and not salty. The packaging is easy to use, light weight, and stands on its own while hydrating. It is convenient and delicious. One package is intended to provide 2 servings. I think it is more than enough for one adult if eaten alone.

Too much green chili but still tasty
I like green chilies I like white beans and chicken so I figured this would be a no brainer but... the green chili just overpowers everything else. It says it has cheddar cheese in it but I didn't taste any cheese. Plenty of beans and a good amount of chicken. Not too salty as some of these type meals can be. Not to spicy hot but all I could really taste is the green chili. I am cajun, I am used to spicy foods and love various hot sauces and seasonings. I have had Hatch chilis many times before and have no problem with the heat level of this but while eating it it just got monotonous, spoon after spoon of nothing but green chili flavor.I may buy more and see if I can add some cheese to it while on trail.

Interesting for me.
Now I have never tried freeze dried food in a combination such as this.. The process to cook this was pretty strait forward and followed the directions that were set forth. First off you might want to carry a small bottle of pepper sauce to help this by spicing it up some. Really could use just a touch more of flavor, but for me I think most things do. Overall I enjoyed the experience of of this backpacking treat.

Tastes great!
Overall, the flavor was great and it was easy to make. The green chili pepper bits added a bit of kick without being overly spicy. Some of these dehydrated food mixes are a bit bland, however this one wasn't. I followed the instructions for the amount of water required and after waiting the time indicated stirring again, and waiting longer there were still a few small bits that didn't seem fully rehydrated.
