Q: Is this a diy upgrade from the hunter src plus 9 station simply changing out the controller and setting it up?

Yes, it is pretty simple to upgrade from an older system. You have to mount it and then change the wires from the old one. Just need some minor wiring and electrical experience.

Q: Does this work with 220v pumps using lake water?

This unit requires 120 VAC power and has 12 - 24 volt AC outputs for valve control. I you wanted to switch the 240 volts pump via one of the outputs you'll also need a 24 volt AC interposing relay for that output.

Q: Is the Hydrawise irrigation software free with purchase of this controller or do I have to purchase that seperately?

The app for hydrawise is free as is the hydrawise website. I have used both, at the current time there is also no monthly cloud storage fee. So in summary I installed this 1 month ago and have paid not fees to use the software.
