So comfortable!
This is my second pair of these exact shoes, and I love them. They have a wide toe box, but don't slip on the heels like most shoes I've tried. I have arthritis and bunions so finding comfortable shoes is a must. My foot pain when walking was awful, so I went to the podiatrist to see if there was anything I could do. He recommended shoes like these, and he was right. I have no more foot pain when walking!!

LOVE these Shoes1
I usually use Brooks for over 15 years, however there have been a sharp decline in their quality. I have been looking for a new shoe that can take the place of Brooks. My last two pairs of Brooks only lasted 2 months- 150 miles before the soles started coming off. I read about Topo's on a long distance runner's site. I also found them praised on the Long distance Hiker magazine gear reviews. So heck let's give them a try!Right out of the box they are comfortable!!Normally I use arch supports and have to relace the left shoe funky as I broke the joint on my foot years ago. The scar tissue can rub on the inside of the lace's eyelet. I am so excited that I have not had to re- lace them to miss that joint.I have tried 3 different models. Each I wear for 10 miles on the stepmill before taking them outdoors. Just to make sure my feet like them. So far this one feels the best. However the other two are great too and I am excited to find out how they last.I Average 900 miles a year hiking, 300-500 miles jogging. I work on my feet and do a TON of walking everyday for work. I need shoes that last, are comfortable and supportive. SO Far These are fitting MY needs!

Want to really like them
Pros: The toe box is extra roomy, which is what was really important to me for walking 4-6 miles at a time. The heel area is narrow enough to hold my foot well.Cons: The shoe is too short. I size up in my tennis shoes half a size and my big toe was still hitting the front of the shoe. The padding by the achilles folded down inside the lining after just a couple of weeks or wearing them. Brought on horrible achilles pain. Had to cut the lining to unfold the padding and sure enough that cured the achilles pain.

Love these shoes
This is my 2nd pair. I use these only for walking. Great fit, comfortable and supports my bunion. Very comfortable

Wide but not deep toebox
I have acute bunions and purchased these because of their reputed wide toebox. While the toebox is about the widest of any shoe I've tried (including several Altras and the Saucony Echelon in extra-wide), the toebox is not correspondingly deep. In fact, it may be a bit shallower than the average shoe, even in wide width. The top stitching and overlays and the rigid plastic bumper guards at the forefoot and forefoot sides are also very restrictive. They have no give and don't accommodate the individual's unique foot shape. As a result, those painfully impinge on my bunions. While I understand the purpose of those is to secure lockdown, they prevent the shoe from working for those with acute bunions or any other conditions that make their foot shape non-standard. If Topo addressed those issues (at least in wide width) this would be a more than decent running shoe.

So comfortable!
I wear these often now. I should have gotten a half size bigger because they run small. People notice them at work and ask what brand they are. The cushion on them is just right.

Disappointed..
Had high expectations as I have loved the topo hiking shoes. These fall short though. I have worn these shoes for walking only, primarily on concrete and indoors. The tread has already started peeling off in multiple places. The inside liner of the shoe is a really slippery material so even when fit and tied properly, my foot slides around too much. Unfortunately missed the return/warrenty window. Wouldn't buy again.

wow! love love love these shoes
i bought the phantom 2 and they felt too narrow, not enough room in the toe box and not enough room for my high arch . my feet felt squished in them and i didnt like the cushion as it gave me shin splints. the new phantom 3 is cushioned differnently which i love because walking on hard surfaces hurt my body, not with these shoes, i wore them in the house for 2 days and then walked on the road 2 days a few miles each andno body or foot pain. i like how these have a wider toe box , cushion is perfect me feet feel great. gonna get another pair in a different color. i usually do soft trails because of body pain, but i think i will do more hard surface walking in these when i cant get to the trails in my trail shoes also by topo. thanks topo for the updated version
