Minimalist Gardening: The Good Guide to Growing Food with Less

Great book and entertaining to read!
I have been recommending David The Good's well-spoken (and written) advice to friends and family for the past couple of years, and this book is why.I bought this book, sight unseen, because I like the philosophy (Just Plant Stuff!) and the easy way he explains what seems to be graduate-level gardening adventures. This book has me rethinking my garden plans, gardens, and plans. I'm tempted to landrace everything and just let Nature sort things out as to what I should be growing. It's a refreshing look at How to Grow Stuff without all the technical language and fancy frills - not because DTG doesn't know about them - but because Simple Is Better. I have my garden fork, shovel, and hose. I'm ready to grow!

Essential philosophy for gardening
This is the KISS principle gardening book, in a very practical form. It reminds us to not overcomplicate things and instead just get out there and start planting and trying to see what works in our own little corner of the world. "Gardening is hard." "I don't have a green thumb." "I didn't know how to grow X." All these things David the Good blasts apart and sets us on the right track. Just get gardening and keep it cheap and simple. Let nature teach you over time how to grow a great garden.

Where do I start? If you aren't familiar with the author, I highly recommend you check out his You Tube channel. As a long time sufferer of "analysis paralysis", I am finding myself much more brave when it comes to "just do it and see what happens." The freedom to think I don't have to have all the latest trending garden tools is life changing. A few good hand tools, some dirt, a handful of seeds and just do it. It's made gardening fun for me and taken away the fear of failure. If one thing doesn't work then try something else. Thank you, David !!!!!

Par for the Course
I have read several of David’s books, and as long as he keeps writing them I will continue to do so. If you have never had the opportunity or inclination, you should. I read A LOT, exclusively non-fiction, which lends itself to being informative and at times somewhat dry. David covers the base of being informative but brings the subject matter into the enjoyable realm. His sense of humor, and experiential anecdotes are quite engaging, not to mention he’s a wealth of practical knowledge regarding gardening. If you like gardening, and enjoy a chuckle or two at every reading session, you will not be disappointed.

Excellent
Bought this to try to learn some basic stuff about gardening on my farm in Italy and it’s taught me a lot of things in just a few pages.Amusingly written too, it simplifies and economises at every turn, which is what you want when your aim is to just grow things without all the fuss and esoteric knowledge of the druids of Albion!

Repetitive
Chapter after chapter repeating the same information in a different way. As though the book was written by A.I. Very little useful information and of that, mostly common knowledge. Definitely NOT worth the money
