Great for practicing welding
I got these coupons to practice wire welding (FCAW to be precise). These coupons are plasma-cut and have a bit of the splatter on the back side of the coupons. I like that the material has been cut in such a way that I can weld up a smaller 6-sided die as well as another cube. You will have to use some of your smaller magnets and clamps to set this up. This was perfect for practicing wire welding.

Nice kit to practice with!
This kit makes for a serious welding challenge for the novice welder. The pieces are small and not particularly easy to position and work with, it would be nice if they were larger. I reduced one star for this reason. That being said, it is challenging to make all the corner welds without really messing it up. it definitely creates a learning opportunity. I've welded up the box since that is the larger of the two. I have not attempted to weld the dice part yet. That is next!

Good for practice
I have done arc welding before but just recently got a decent multiprocess welder and wanted something to experiment on and get a feel for the new tool. I got both the 14ga and 17ga sets to have a couple different thickness to work with. They are a bit smaller than I expected but that is ok as the size also makes it so I have to work on proper setup with clamps or magnets which is harder with these small pieces than if they were larger which is another skill to work on. I checked the thickness with a gauge thickness tool and it measured at the proper thickness. The edges could use a bit of cleanup but you could probably skip that until after the welding is complete.

Great for increasing skills
I'm a neophyte welder--finally picking up a skill in my 70s that I wish I had acquired a half century ago. Being unskilled, my attempts have been making welds where their quality and cosmetics have not been critical. These "coupons" are perfect for forcing me to up the quality of my welds, and thus my skill. They re well worth their modest cost, though I suspect I'll use up more than one before my skills get where I want them.

good practice set for learning new welding equipment
This is a good practice set for getting up to speed with new welding equipment. Unlike just laying down beads on scrap material, this project helps to exercise various skills and techniques. The material is laser cut with the "dice" pieces inside the "window" pieces with a small tab holding them together; this can easily be removed by bending by hand and just a touch with a grinder cleans up the edges on both pieces.

Decent for welding practice- why not cut them all the way apart?
I don't understand why they don't cut them all the way apart before sending them to you. It's not terribly hard to break them apart, but it does leave a knub that has to be ground off, and will bend the edge if you're not careful. I don't know why they wouldn't just finish the cut and sell them all separated since the intent is to weld them together as cubes and not to be used as one flat sheet. They are pretty thin, so you will need to be able to turn your welder way down. I'm not great at stick and do mostly mig, so I can't imagine how you could stick weld these. You'd have to be a better welder than I am. Maybe practice would make me better at it.Overall a good product for practice welding, I just wish they had cut them apart.

Nice!
Great TIG practice... Once you're up to outside corner welds on 14g steel. Because this is thin. I'm not there yet, but with this set, you get lots of corners to try on.

Fun project
This should be a fun project to help me as I learn Tig welding. The steel appears to be of good quality and laser cut, the thickness is as advertised. I was a little surprised that this product shipped dry and in a padded envelope, similar things I’ve purchased have come packed in oil paper and wrapped in plastic. I live near the coast and wonder if the product will rust while sitting in my garage waiting to be used. On the flip side there is no nasty oil to clean off the steel before welding it, so the project will go faster than some others I’m looking forward to doing. I would recommend this dice kit to anyone who needs more practice learning to stack dimes on steel.
