Purina Beyond Grain Free, Natural Pate Wet Cat Food, Simple Origins Chicken & Sweet Potato Recipe - (12) 3 oz. Cans

We just switched to Purina and my cat has thrown up twice from eating this. We thought it was because he’s not used to the food or ate too quickly, so we gave it to him in smaller portions, then we found this while cutting up the food. A plastic string about the length of my index finger inside the food! I don’t know if it’s just this batch but it makes me question the quality of the entire Purina Beyond line.

I gave this food five stars for flavor, not because I have actually tasted it myself, but after consultation with my cat, Charlie. After I had ordered it, Charlie stopped eating the pate type I had previously been giving him of another brand of his cat food. When this food arrived I planned to either give it to my daughter’s cats or donate it to the local shelter. One night, I figured I would just try it and when I opened the can, it looked like classic pate, but I gave it to him anyway and to my surprise he cleaned his plate and licked his chops. The next day, I tried a different flavor with the same result. He cleaned his plate completely. That night different flavor but still loving it. So I am very pleased with this food because a really good food equals a happy Charlie. I recommend this cat food very highly!

My cat is highly allergic to chicken, which irritates his IBD and causes him to vomit everywhere. I ordered the "Cod, Herring, & Spinach" recipe expecting it to contain, well, COD and HERRING. Guess what the second ingredient is? CHICKEN. Followed by Cod & Chicken Broth, Chicken Liver, Chicken Heart. Lots of a Chicken for a recipe that's supposed to be based around fish.So, fair warning to everyone in a similar situation: even though the label says "NO Poultry By-Product Meal", realize that it does contain CHICKEN. Stay away.Sadly I didn't realize this until a few cans in. Shame on me for not immediately checking the label before feeding, but shame on Purina for advertising the way they do. Frankly it's BS that Purina is selling this stuff without providing a clear and accurate label visible on Amazon before purchase.

After carefully reading labels in a PET SMART prior to purchase, we tried several, one can at a time, slowly introducing. If your baby bolts her food, serve small portions--I still have to do this! My 19 y.o. kitty loves this and helps maintain her weight and coat. The vet ok'd it, despite some senior issues (check w/yours). As always, introduce new food slowly, so you do not upset digestion (on either end). It's a bit pricey, but it provides essential nutrients we were not able to get with home cooked pureed chicken.

When a local grocery store put the dry and canned Beyond cat food on sale, and there were good coupons out there for it, I decided to try it; even though I've had my cats reject no-grain dry food in the past, and the canned Beyond is more expensive than Fancy Feast. Well, both the fish and chicken type dry food was not rejected this time, and they love all the canned Beyond I tried . . . which was never the duck or pheasant . . . especially these four Simple Origins ones.They are more tender than the less expensive canned Beyond flavors, although those flavors are still more tender than the Fancy Feast pate flavors. For some reason, my cats recently stopped eating all their Fancy Feast every day like they use to, so I'm glad I discovered Beyond when I did. Buying Beyond online can be cheaper, too, which is good, since one local grocery store, known for having low prices for Purina products, sells these Simple Origins for $1.50 a can.

My kitties love this. Plus it is NON-GMO, so there is no glyphosate. All GMO and nonorganic food contain glyphosate which the World Health Organization has indicated is a DEFINITE cause of cancer in animals. So I am very happy to find this food! Thank you, Purina.

I think of myself as a very savvy consumer. I read all labels, check the ingredients and compare prices. We have a cat that is not very picky about taste, but we can still tell what she tends to like more. Purina's Beyond Grain Free line of canned cat food is now our current preferred brand. We have tried a few other of the grain free brands (ones you can find next to this on shelves at the store). This brand has the best choice of ingredients and variety of flavors for its price point. We do sometimes purchase I and Love and You brand if we are in a pinch but after finding these on Amazon, they tend to be priced a little better than our local store.Overall, the healthy list of ingredients are very comparable to higher priced grain free beans and the natural GMO free offerings are a plus. The prices usually can't be beat on Amazon but we try to watch our local stores for sales and coupons. We tend to like the pate, just our personal preference, for more food in the can, but in gravy is already chopped up if that's something you prefer. We will continue to purchase from Amazon as long as prices stay better than the competition.

First off I would not call this a Pate, it's fine tiny particles formed into a mold shape and lots of liquid. It falls apart really easy and the can was only like 3/4 full, surely not 3oz. Cat liked it but will not buy again. Ordered a 12 pack and ended up receiving 1 can in a bag. Well I got that worked out, and then I bought her the other Purina Beyond Chicken and Sweet Potato and it's actually a Pate, she likes it and I will continue with that one.
