Do I think the funnel could have been designed better? Heck yes
I've had this thing for about three years. While steam output is less than boiling water in a pot on the stove, being able to direct all the steam onto your face makes it comparable without having to run all over the house. Plus, it takes less time to heat up, and it has a timer that beeps when it's ready. Do I think the funnel could have been designed better? Heck yes, but I've had time to give it some thought (because what else do you do when your face is in a bowl?), and I think I've figured out what the designer had in mind. Hear me out. Given the small boiler and slightly lower steam output, I think the idea is that you're not supposed to steam your entire face at one time, but are rather supposed to do one side and then the other, and then possibly your forehead separately. When I first got this thing, I turned it around and around trying to figure out how this was supposed to work. What sort of squash-faced alien thought this was a good idea? But if you're leaning over it when it's sitting on the bathroom counter, and you turn your head so that your chin rests inside the bottom lip, it actually fits pretty well. And, of course, they don't want you to suffocate while you're down there, so they left some breathing space for your nose. I don't actually think doing it that way was entirely necessary, because there seems to be adequate steam to do your entire face at once (draping a towel over your head contains all of the steam quite well for an all-over job, too), but I thought 20 bucks was a great price for the convenience of having a small face steamer in the bathroom. Considering it's held up well over the years, I can't really complain. It does seem to work best when the boiler is full. If the water gets low, the heat output is greater than the steam output, but I honestly never get to that point with one use. It has the option of a fifteen minute timer, but I usually feel "refreshed" after about three, even with having to turn my face, even with the small surface area of water releasing steam. Would I recommend to a friend? Yes, if they're cheap like me. For the money, it seems to work just fine.

Excellent durable product, made to last
I bought this Conair facial sauna (MDF2R)about a month ago and so far i have used it 4 times without any problems. The item is really easy to use out of the box. Before buying this product i was concerned about the safety issue since someone had posted that the blue neck is not long enough and it might be too close to the hot water. Let me clear your doubts, the water is never boiling (bubbling) so there is no splashing going on and there is more then enough room (safety space) between your face and the hot water. You will have to move your face to either sides if you wish to steam those areas. The steam is pretty stationary and only moves while you exhale from your nose. So there is a little learning curve and you will leaned to move your face to the right angle in order to make the steam hit those spots. The easiest way to use the product is on a waist level table OR on a bathroom sink counter while sitting on a chair. That way you will be comfortable and you can hold the base of the steamer with one hand (for safety) and use the other if you wish to keep a towel over your head.So far i have not witnessed any hissing noises since i only use the machine for 15mins or under with still little water left in the reservoir. The timer works pretty good also and it can be turned on only after the water has reached its temperature. I have not used any of the attachments since I don't have any need for them and therefore i will not review on it.I definitely recommend this product if you are in the market for a facial sauna. When i purchased this item little more then a month ago it was 20 bucks even and i see that it has gone down a bit since then so good luck.

Good for Colds or Beauty
I bought this facial steamer for allergy and cold relief, but have also enjoyed it for beauty purposes. The pros are that it comes with a facial cone for beauty needs, and a nasal cone for health needs. I also love the color, the timer, and the level of heat that the steam reaches. Its not too hot to bear, but its definitely not lukewarm. My only complaints (and why I gave it 4 stars) is that while it produces a nice volume of steam, it doesn't billow out like crazy (don't expect clouds and clouds of steam) and I didn't feel like the facial cone angled the steam in the right way. Unless you rest your face on the cone itself (which isn't comfortable and which is kinda suffocating with the amount of steam coming at you) it doesn't really hit your forehead with steam the way it hits the rest of your face. That being said, if you put a towel over your head (which I DEFINITELY recommend for colds, and which is optionally helpful for beauty steams) then the heat of the steam can open your pores on your whole face, including your forehead. The facial cone is not a deal breaker for me, and I still feel like this is a good beauty product that will improve anyone's skincare regime.I did not use the brush that it came with, as I had my own already. But I like the size of it, and it seems to be good quality from appearances. If you are looking for cold/allergy relief, buy this, as well as some peppermint essential oil. A few drops of oil, with water, in this steamer will greatly relieve congestion. For a cleansing beauty aid, use this steamer before deep cleaning your face with the brush. And finish by applying products to your freshly cleaned face, with or without the foam applicator brush head. I would recommend this product!
