Gerber Gear ComplEAT Tableware Set - Polypropylene Camping Cookware - Portable Outdoor Tableware - 4 Plates, 4 Bowls & 1 Mixing Bowl

This is a durable and well-designed set of camping tableware. Gerber is well known for their quality knives and multitools, and camp cookware isn’t an obviously related product line, so it would have been something of a shame if this product had turned out to be the result of mere brand licensure. That doesn’t seem to be the case, though, and at minimum, this tableware set doesn’t diminish the brand.For its intended use while camping, I don’t see how you could do much better. The plastic construction means the pieces won’t shatter if dropped, the polygonal shapes help with nesting, and the bowls and plates have a thicker textured base that prevents them from sliding around. The pieces are marked as food-safe (of course), BPA-free, microwave-safe, and dishwasher-safe. I’d caution that microwave-safe plastics should still never be exposed to anything particularly hot. Polypropylene in particular will melt starting at around 130°C and leach chemicals into your food significantly below that, so wait for food to cool down below, say, 80°C before transferring it onto the plates or bowls.I partially agree with some other reviewers who mentioned that cups would have been a good addition. But the bowls can be used for liquids in a pinch, and there’s not that much space left in the bowls (where any cups would need to fit) once everything is nested. If you really need cups, it looks like four small teacups (perhaps 5 oz at most) would just about work, but you’ll have to find the right ones yourself.At the time of review (late May 2024), I couldn’t find this tableware set by itself on Gerber’s website, and It’s also showing as “Currently Unavailable” on Amazon. However, I was able to find a much more expensive “ComplEAT Cook Set” on the website that includes all the pieces here in addition to a metal pot and pan with lids and a carrying case. I’m assuming the website will be updated and more stock will be made available for purchase eventually. If those assumptions turned out to be right and this tableware set is available when you’re reading this review, I can strongly recommend it.

Trying to be the conscientious and less wasteful camper we decided to select this set for our family. I love the nesting feature for portability and packing for the trip. The feature of the plate doubling as a lid is pretty cool. It can also be for moving around the campsite by stacking the plate and bowl if you have dishes in both the bowl and on the plate. It’s an efficient design. As is the larger mixing bowl that serves as the main compartment when nesting the set together.They’re easy to clean and just as easy to wipe dry. Setting them on their side to dry takes up a lot of real estate so we end up wiping them dry them as soon as they’re clean. We have had some hot meals and I haven’t seen any defects within the bowls or plates, if we did then the meal is too hot to eat. In other words, it appears to be safe to eat off of. I know some would prefer not to eat off of any type of plastic but this set appears safe.Glad we have this set. The only thing for our family is that it only comes in a set of 4. We are a family of 5 so that means one of us is out of plate. It would be great if these can be purchased separately.

Name brand and decently priced as such. The tableware is made of quality material, the grippy bottom does make a different on my camper table and the size is perfect for a nice sized meal.Sometimes name brands are simply overpriced but this appears to be a quality product from Gerber

Needed a replacement tableware set for our upcoming camping trip to Yosemite and wanted something ease to stack and clean.The set comes in a nice subdued set of colors that match the bowls and plates.The complete set is easy to carry, with the plates on the bottom and the large mix bowl carrying the smaller bowls.We took some hot rice from home and made a small trip to our local dim sum shop. The large bowl held 4 cups of cooked rice with no issue, and kept the rice warm with one of the plates nested on top to cover the large bowl.The plates and bowls are all textured on the bottom, and make the bowls and plates easy to hold while eating standing up or moving around.The bowls also have a nifty hole in the handle to hold chopsticks or utensils handles.They are easy to clean and I was able to shake dry them for quick transport.Microwave safe, and dishwasher safe.My daughter liked the set so much she claimed one for herself and has been using them all weekend for snacks and meals.Hoping to see if they can release a cup and lid set to compliment the tableware set.

I like Geber items. I have a lot of them. I think they are well made, priced appropriately, but always leave you wanting just a little more. This tableware set is exactly that. Good quality, multi-use, fits well together, seemed to be durable, etc. What could have been better? Maybe a carrying bag. Could have been just a tad more compact. Although it's a nice addition, the measuring markings could have been in ounces. Overall, this is a great set for a couple of people for a couple of days camping. Would work well for a family too. They appear easy to clean at the campsite then wash when you get home. For most of my trips, the mixing bowl will stay home but I think that's a nice addition to the set for the most part.

Quality is great, and I like that everything stacks into each other. And the insulated base really works. I've been able to eat piping hot soup or noodles while holding it on my lap without getting burnt. I really like the unique shapes of the set, they're interesting but don't hinder the usability one bit. I'd recommend it. It's a quality set that's durable and I'm confident it will last me years.The only thing that I do wish this set had was a carrying bag or pouch to keep all the plates and bowls together.
