Read! Use this properly, and you WILL catch every single bee!
I'll start by saying if folks followed directions and did some research, they'd realize these homemade be traps work perfectly. The little playhouse is my daughter's. We've dealt with these bees (20+ at a time) for 10 years. Did everything. Tried it all. Last ditch effort, try this thing.First two days... Nothing.Hmm, researched a little.Sprayed Raid on the area they always go the evening before the re-try, soaked it down good. Hung the trap back up in the eve by where they chill...Next day with the morning sun shining on the house, the bees where everywhere...caught 1,then 2,then 2hrs later 5.Left them in there, sprayed again that evening, next day, 6 more.Didn't spray again, keeps catching them over and over. Over 20 so far and now your NEVER see them. You'll see 1 occasionally and then boom, in the trap. Hands down, get it.... Use it right. I bought mine, got my father in law one. (had issues for 30+ years these things getting into structual wood)Wish I saw this year's ago. Built a home with log siding, 2 years later, I couldn't get rid of these bees. Ended up moving for a job, then the folks that bought the home pulled the siding off and did vinyl because they were so bad and kept boring holes.

Surprisingly works really well
This trap surprisingly works pretty well. When I received it I didn't think carpenter bees would be so dumb to fall for this - what appears to be a very simple trap. It took a week or so, but it caught a bee and I was shocked. Then every day or so, it caught a few more bees. I cleaned the trap out every week or so (I had to wait for the bees to die first of course). After a month or so, we didn't really see any more carpenter bees around (one or two now and then, but nothing like it was originally). Since it's just made out of simple wood and it was out in the rain for a few months, I ended up throwing it away at the end of the season, and I just bought 2 more for the upcoming warm weather. If you have carpenter bees, you need this.

Terrible Quality Does Not Work
Terrible Quality Does Not Work! I purchased this trap to catch the carpenter bees outside my house and shed. It arrived with the lid barely attached so I had to add a couple extra staples myself to make sure it didn't fall off outside. There were no instructions on where to hang it or how it works!? I had to search on line for instructions on another traps web site to learn about where to hang it and how it is supposed to work (should have bought the other companies trap?!). I ended up hanging this new trap about 20' from my other trap I purchased last year from another vendor. There are lots of bees around this new trap, but it has been up 3 days and there are 0 bees inside! The other trap has 5 or more bees in it just from the last 3 days alone! I've seen at least two bees fly into this new trap and walk right out, what kind of trap is that? I think with the small jar on the bottom that this trap would only fit a few bees if it worked anyway. I'll see how it goes, but so far very disappointed in this trap and the vendor for not giving any instructions or details about where to hang the trap.

It catches bees as designed but quality is a bit lacking
The catcher traps bees as designed, but I thought it was a bit pricey for what it is. I paid around $25 and would have expected it to be painted or made of a more durable/weather-resistant material (vinyl, plastic, etc.). I ended up putting a few coats of spray paint on it because it is made of raw wood. Also, there are tiny nails holding it together whereas screws would be more durable. Finally, the jar that came with the trap is very small, so I replaced it with a jar that is much larger that I had in the house. Overall, it works as intended and would have given it 5 stars if it were a bit higher quality per my comments above.

It works-if you can hold out for that first bee
This was a gift for my mom who always has trouble with these pesky bees every spring.I've found out two things...first, you don't need lures or bait, it is designed to resemble a nest which alone entices the bees in the first place. You simply need to hang it in a good spot where those evil buggers are spotted...Second it may take awhile before the first "victim" gets ensnared....but from there it's all gravy, due to pheromones emitted by the first. As a side note, you could put some sugar water in the jar, but the design itself is made to mimic a real nest, and since the bee's first instinct is to fly towards light,(which the jar resembles) they can't , so they're toast.Construction of the trap itself looks good, we're both pleased!

Not worth it
Have had this up since May. As of the end of June I have exactly 1 carpenter bee in it, the rest are still eating my deck. Sad to say because I try to buy American made whenever possible but the item is over priced for what you get and it does not work as hopef

Great carpenter bee catcher
I was getting bombarded with carpenter bees invading my sitting area outside. They had taken over so I placed this trap on the other side of the fence and they went in there. So far I have several caught inside. Of course I had to spray the hole they had made on my fence.

Inferior wood/workmanship
Have had similar product in the past and, functionally, they work. Purchased this particular item since it was “prime and free delivery”. For almost $30 each, extremely disappointed in both workmanship and quality/selection of wood used. First order of two had one box that was obviously broken, glued and sold to me (see pic). Amazon promptly replaced my order by sending two more. Both had flaws. One with an obvious crack and one with a knot that, with aging, both will most likely fail (see pics). Would not reorder in future. Guess should have paid the shipping on my previously purchased traps!
