Light doesn't penetrate metal
I love love love the look of these pendant lights. They look fabulous with our countertops.If you purchase them, take into consideration that the light coming from them is directed down only. So, when you are using them over a kitchen island, for example, the task lighting functionality is fantastic. In the day time, which is when we installed them, I wasn't thinking about the evening. The pendants we removed had a glass shade and even though those, too, were directed downward, there was still light emitted all around them--up, down, and all sides. These Luminzone lights produce light that is down only. So, in a darkened room, they don't illuminate the kitchen in the same way as the old pendants did. We happen to also have can lights in the room and I am glad we do because those cans are the only means to light the room from the ceiling down. Last I checked, light doesn't exactly penetrate metal.
