I used this to drill out some holes for a bird house. I'm used to using fixed hole saws (which don't get assembled), and this was the first one I've used where you have to assemble them. It took a moment to figure out I needed the adapter for the larger hole saws, but once I figured it out it went together quickly and worked well. Overall very pleased!

I got these to use on a project where I had to cut out some large holes in plastic. They worked great and I have since used them for holes in a new door. They are as described so I give them 45 stars.

The AV Steel hole saw set is a great value in that you get a good quality set of 6 saws, 2 mandrels, 2 pilot drill bits, hex key and usable case for what one can spend on just a single saw and mandrel.For years I've used a well known brand of hole saws with good success but every time I needed a new saw or mandrel it was a small fortune. Being at a time when I could use a few new saws I came across this set and from the product description the mandrels looked to be very close to what I'm used to. I decided to order the set and I'm glad I did.The mandrels are well machined and function quite well. I've tried some inexpensive mandrels that were total junk but these seemed as good as my brand name ones. The other issues with cheaper mandrels is they usually come with an odd angle cheap pilot bit. These performed very well in the materials I've drilled so far.Just to test the set I locked up the 2" saw and drilled into thick plastic, plywood, PT 2X4 and light metal with good results.The cut holes were clean and very close to size. There are no ejector springs but the side slots allowed for material removal with a small flat screwdriver.I seldom have the need to drill into thick steel so I'll take the manufactures word for it. I'd suggest a little cutting oil to aid the process.All in all I like this kit and recommend it for offering good quality tools at a reasonable price.

Snapped in half on first ever use. Held it straight, was going where I wanted and just snapped off.

I currently have a mixed bag of hole cutters, but I seem to never be able to find the right size. I did buy a set from that cheap tool place, but they had disappointing performance. These however, did the trick. I now have many sizes in a good case that work well on wood (I have not used on other material yet). I am keeping some of my old ones since they are deeper than these, but I think this kit will be a 90% solution for me.
