Starrett 98-6 6" Machinists' Level with Ground and Graduated vials

This is a genuine Starrett product of great quality. Came with red Starrett box. All as advertised and arrived as promised in perfect condition. Used to set up Metal lathe and milling machine. properly calibrated right out of the box. Highly recommend.

What can I say. It's a Starrett. As long as I can remember these Starrett levels have looked the same. When it comes to leveling machinery, these are the industry standard. The large Starrett levels @ 12" - 18" and up can run well over a thousand dollars. But still, this 6" level will do the same job @ a much lower cost. I don't see how they can sell this @ $110 but they do and it is very good buy. Super accurate and sturdy. If taken care of it will be around for the rest of your life.

The size and accuracy offered great value towards the project.

Good Machinist level. Easy to calibrate, and stays calibrated. Great quality as is always expected from Starrett.

Makes setting up a mill and work piece easier. Extremely sensitive.

This is is an excellent level, however it is designated as a 6" level and one might expect that Starrett would make this precisely 6" long, hence the 4 stars. Maybe not like a gauge block accuracy of 6.001" or 6.0001". Well it measures 6.0860". all of the edges are ground and I'm sure that they could have gotten this where ever they wanted, but 0.086 by machinist standards is a bit longer. I actually needed this to fit in a machine base with the leveling pegs and that extra length didn't allow it to fit. That probably doesn't matter for most people but just as a FYI.
