The Love Conspiracy

One of J.J. Arias’ best ever.
I’m already a big fan of J.J. Arias’ work, but her latest, “The Love Conspiracy”, is easily one of her best works, if not already and irrevocably in the lead in that category. The two leads are among her best characters, being brought fully to life in exquisite detail. With a messy and complicated meeting—but as Ally would say, “So, what?”—that evolves into something more, something stronger, and something ultimately as life-saving for Veronica as it is life-changing for both characters. Throughout the book you just want to give Veronica a hug and tell her everything will be OK, but you know, with all your heart, that Ally truly has that all taken care of for her. It is a deeply moving and deeply satisfying story that deserved to be read, celebrated, and honored.

I loved this fan-fic!
When I started this book I loved the premise, and then a few chapters later I realized I had seen this plot before. My mom watches “The other woman” with Cameron Diaz and Jamie for GoT religiously and despite never actually watching the movie myself I got more excited about this book. I stopped reading at night to get to sleep, and I ended up watching the movie. Super cute and could totally see Ally being a mix of Cameron Diaz and Kate Upton and Veronica being Leslie Mann. The book and movie diverge immediately and have very little in common. I loved the book so much. Such a lovely relationship. No toxicity, heavy communication, love, love making, and just a perfect HEA!This is my first JJ Arias book, and I’m excited to read more of her catalog, especially since she has a bunch of books. First stop for me is audible and her two books there. Highly recommend this one!!!

Throughly Enjoyable
I wasn’t sure I would like this book because of the premise, it didn’t really appeal to me. I saw some great reviews and decided I would try it. I am so happy I did.The writing style, the level of detail, the funny dialogue, it all appealed to me. This is one of my most favorite books!I thought the detail following the culmination of the main topic was superb. Sometimes when I read a book there is this huge buildup and when it is resolved the book ends quickly afterwards. I am left wondering what happened. Not this book. It follows the story through to a perfect ending.Oh, I didn’t even mention the steamy parts! Yum!

If this book isn’t on your TBR list, stop what you’re doing and move it to your “Currently Reading” list immediately and if it’s on your TBR list, make it a priority ASAP!
If you love age gap romance with hilarious descriptive imagery and a professional level of sarcasm delivered by extremely well written main characters, [Bonus points for being given the opportunity to visualize “the speed of tranquilized sloths.”] and a healthy dose of complicated family dynamics, then this book is for you. Veronica and Ally’s chemistry is so natural and believable from the beginning to end which really pulls you into the story. This book is all of those things but above all, what made this book so special is that it’s one of the most feministly (not a real word, but it should be!) written wlw romance books that I’ve read. It was so refreshing to see a w/w conflict where one can so easily blame “the other woman” or “women” in this case, but this book shuts that right down. Even when presented with another woman that continued her relationship with the dude despite figuring out he was probably married, Arias didn’t waver, instead she chose to have women find strength and support within themselves and each other. IS it a slow burn? Sure, in that you have to get two MCs who meet because of their unwittingly shared relationship with a cis-hetero-man, to realize their feelings for each other, when neither has any idea that the other is queer (and in this case, it’s news to one MC herself). On top of that, they not only need to believably get over their relationship with said man, but they also need to come out/realize their feelings for one another. Then finally, actually get together (phew! that was long). Arias did this brilliantly and the pacing is perfect. IS Veronica an “ice queen”? Not sure. If so, I’ve never loved one until now. To me, she’s understandably suspicious of people and cautious with her heart because she grew up without the comfort of unconditional love and clearly made a dubious choice in first partners. She’s loyal, strong and vehemently fights for what she wants. The growth that Veronica chooses for herself is both inspirational and aspirational and one of the highlights of the book for me.I’m actually still laughing when I think about Ally and Veronica being greeted by Ayo at the flower shop in Philly. “Hello.” The woman’s attention bounced from Veronica to Ally, who had sidled up to her side. “Can I help you find something? I’m getting some we-just-moved-in-together-but-aren’t-ready-to-commit-to-a-cat vibes.” One of the many gems in store for you when you read this book because you absolutely must read this book!

Not so tough
I wasn’t sure what to expect from the synopsis on the jacket cover. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen. If one thing, I would have loved for a small confrontation and a declaration from Gabe to win back either Veronica and/or Ally. You truly do find love in some of the strangest places amongst the strangest people.I wish there was just a bit more angst between Veronica and Ally. Just a bit. I’m sure there was quite a bit in their many interactions together while on Veronica’s plight. Gabe should have had just a little bigger part. It would have been nice to know why he did what he did. And if there were more. How long has this been going on?Why is everyone so beautiful and flawless? These are real people? All in all, I really liked them together. I was rooting for them. They both deserved true happiness. I also liked the way the story ended. Endings are hard. I could read more. But it is a lovely place to stop. And I got to see them together. I like the premise of this story. There is another story that is wonderful that is kind of similar is “Does She Love You?” I r re as it four times.

Another gem by J.J. Arias that will have you laughing out loud, saying what the heck and leaving you wanting to turn the page to find out what happened next between Allison and Veronica. I enjoyed this book. The roles of the supporting characters and families are well written and fleshed out in the roles they play in the lives of Veronica and Allison.Well worth the read! A thoroughly enjoyable book!

Best book by JJ!
Wow. I just finished it and I don’t even know what to say. I’m so in love with them. So in love with Ally’s light and innocence, so in love with how strong Veronica is. You know how good a book is when it gives you so much feelings, you finish it and all you can feel is warm in the chest and longing. No more words, this is a must read.

Great read
I found this a real page turner. The premise was a twist on the cheated partner trope and wow, it delivered big time in quality. The writing is excellent and the characters really well developed. Even the ‘jerks’ are fully developed. I found it hard to put down. It is definitely a book I will read again. Excellent.

Even bad beginnings can end HEA
I’ve always enjoyed JJ Arias’ books so I begin Chapter One with that expectation. I’m never let down. This is a wonderful story with a far from favourable beginning, a resulting period of emotional angst and it slides into a satisfying ‘falling in love’. True love. Great characters. It’s definitely not superficial. And an acknowledging nod to sisters, be they biological or chosen. Some subtle thought-provoking ideas for going forward with life. Yes, definitely 5-star.

Wow, just wow
I’m always amazed by J.J. writing and with this book it’s no different! The connection between the main characters is amazing, it’s so well written. I love the way Veronica treats Ally with kindness from the beginning, even though she is the one hurting the most. They are so incredible together I couldn’t stop reading
