I’m very happy with this security camera so far, and quite impressed with the quality, considering the low price. It comes with a plug-in adaptor, so you can screw that section onto the bulb part, and just plug it into an existing outlet, if you have an outlet in a ceiling area. This is what I did. I had my friend who is a professional electrician help me set it up. He said that he doubted the ability of this device to withstand rain, even though it is shown as being an outdoor device. Fortunately, my ceiling outlet is under a patio area, so the device will not get wet, even in the rain. Set-up is easy. Just follow the directions in the manual provided. It uses an app called Esee Cloud. It’s very easy to connect the device to your WiFi, and you can monitor anything happening around your house from wherever you are. You can set it for motion detection and Follow Motion. It will even follow a stray cat coming up to my door! It gives you notifications via the app. The notifications appear on my iPhone and Apple Watch. The video capture is crystal clear! I was very impressed with that! You do need to purchase an SD card in order to record video on the device. Otherwise, there is an option to purchase a monthly plan on the app. I think the SD card will suffice, so I’ve purchased an SD card to try that out. The device seems to have 360 degree motion, and it is interesting to see how it will literally follow your actions, wherever you go. It does not have a light that comes on at night, as other security cameras have, but it does have an option for you to turn on a light in it, to view the “human channel”, as the app calls it. I think, though, that a light does come on whenever there is some kind of human or animal movement around it. It’s just not a yard-illuminating light for all night, as my other, larger security camera has. It also does not have any voice that says “Hi, you are being recorded”, as my other camera does. Basically, I have this bulb camera set up alongside my main one as a back-up, in case the other camera fails to detect movement. Sometimes, this bulb camera has detected movement, whereas the main camera has not, so it is a great additional security. My friend said, though, that since this is basically like a light bulb, it would be very simple for an intruder to simply un-screw the camera from the outlet and just take it! One other thing: this bulb camera must be placed upside down, so it will work when screwed into a pendant lamp. It will not work if screwed into an upright lamp. I tried that, and everything was upside down in the Live Video! For the low price, this is a great security camera to get, and I have now bought a second one to use indoors to monitor my dogs while I am out. I highly recommend this security camera!

Having sampled three of these light bulb style security cameras, we can recommend it as a simple and affordable security solution for monitoring one’s property. The bulb camera offers high-quality surveillance videos, panoramic images, and good audio quality. We like that it can rotate 360 degrees, providing a panoramic view of the surrounding area. However, if installed in an enclosed wall-mounted outdoor light fixture, the field of view may be limited, especially if the fixture has glass that causes reflections at night. To avoid this issue, we recommend using a lighting fixture without glass, such as a gooseneck style light fixture.To manage the bulb security camera, you'll need to download the EseeCloud smartphone app, create an account, and follow the setup prompts. You can also add multiple cameras to the app, even if you buy them at different times. We currently have three of these cameras monitoring our property from all directions, and it's great to have such great visibility of what's going on outside. While the Esee Cloud app has some impressive features, some of them are not always reliable, and customer support has been unresponsive. For instance, we cannot delete past events (images and videos) from the app, and the responses I've received have been in another language, and unhelpful. Accessing video events is also complicated, but you can set alarms to receive notifications when an event occurs. There's also an option to download the app to your PC by doing an online search for "EseeCloud for PC". Overall, while the security camera itself is a great investment, the app should be improved to make it more user-friendly and reliable.
