Strong Spring Hard to set, but hits hard when triggered
The traps are electro plated and come in a bag with setting instructions. There were 5 in the bag. The metal is quite thin, but it seems to hold shape well enough. It is difficult to set this trap because the spring is so strong. However, I found that by using the locking bar to depress the noose assembly against the spring tension, that knack made things a lot easier. The trigger loop underneath also needed holding taught in order to latch correctly. There is very little surface area between the locking bar and the trigger loop hook. The slightest misalignment and it will slip off and snap shut. All in all a fiddly experience to set. On a couple, I bent the ends of the Locking bar and trigger loop a bit more to help them be less sensitive.I got them in the ground OK, but covering them over is difficult if your soil is quite clay rich. The covering needs to be not too heavy that it will foul the movement from snapping shut. Once the noose snaps shut, the spring pushes the movement upwards and out of the ground. So, anything that stops the movement shooting up out of the ground will cause a malfunction.I have successfully used pincer/scissor type traps before and think that design might be slightly better to install and to cover over. I have not had anything in these traps at the moment so can't comment on effectiveness. However, I have seen this design used successfully by professionals before, so I expect that they will be effective when triggered. The spring is certainly strong enough to do the job quickly and effectively.

Don't go off.
I've used several different mole traps throughout the years but always like the tunnel traps. Purchased these as needed some quick and they're not good.Have been using them for several weeks now but they don't go off. I've even pressed on the trigger with a screwdriver to try and get the trap to go off but you have to use alot of force and push the trigger in a certain way. They're not sensitive hence why they're not working.I would pay abit extra and get a branded trap in future.

Powerful traps
I haven't had the opportunity to get these into use yet but they look good. They are very solidly made and appear to be galvanised so would last well in the elements. The double trap springs are very strong and quite difficult to get into place so I do wonder how easily a mole will actually trip it.I hope to get them into action in the next week as moles have just appeared in the garden so will update this review if I have any issues or success.

Can go off half cock. May maim rather than kill
I'm unhappy with these traps. It's not because I haven't caught a mole with them. My lawn is on very heavy clay and the moles tend to push clay in the tunnels in front of them setting off the traps without trapping the mole. This seems to be a problem with all styles of traps but what I am very unhappy about is that the hook from the trigger mechanism catches the top of the loop as it springs up so that the loop isn't fully closed. I am concerned that this could maim a mole. About half the traps which had been triggered were in this "half cock" state. I hate having to kill moles but I certainly don't want to maim them. Sadly deterrents of all kinds don't work here.

Watch this space!
Haven't used these yet as by the time they arrived we already caught the culprit in the fork style traps bought previously. However, saw these on YouTube and they look really easy to use and low and behold we have woke up today with fresh mole hills on our lawn so obviously another critter has decided to use the tunnels of its predecessor......apparently if you leave the dead mole in the tunnel it supposed to deter any other moles. Clearly that doesn't work.Waiting for the rain to stop so we can try these out.

Difficult to set; spring force is very powerful
The printed instructions direct you to a video on the product page but this is not there. The images on the product page are clearer than the printed ones. It is clear how to set them up - it is just that you need a lot of brute force to do it.I found it really difficult to both hold down the spring arm and then place the hook over the trigger arm. I did manage it eventually with a couple of near misses. You should definitely wear gloves. It would be better to have some kind of clamp to help keep the spring arm flat while the trigger is hooked.I can see other reviewers did not have any issues - I guess I just do not have the physical strength needed to do this easily. As a result I will be looking to other approaches.I think this however would be impossible to set up if your hand strength is compromised in any way.

Really well made.
Due to the everlasting rain, I've not been able to try these out, but first impressions are positive. The materials are good and the zinc plating looks ok. They look every bit as functional as those I've previously purchased.
