My shoes are legal now
One of the _many_ rules in my mother's house was "Thou shall NOT wear new shoes until treated". We did deal with rain and snow and did not have money to be wasted on not taking care of your belongings. So, I mean... it makes sense. At any rate, I recently wore some shoes **twice** without and couldn't stop that voice in my head until I got leather oil. After a bit of looking around, I chose this kit. Are there cheaper mink oils? Sure, but just the oil, not a tidy, contained kit. And... It's a nice kit. The case is well made and hard-sided with the can of KIEMT mink oil, an application sponge, and a buffing cloth. Everything is tidily contained instead of ending up strewn in a drawer or on a random shelf. I appreciate the screw top on the oil over the ones you have to pry off. The only thing I would change is the application sponge. It's bigger than the can, so you kind of have to dip just the edge in. If it were slightly smaller, you could spin it inside to get a more complete amount to apply neatly to your leather. So, now mother can be satisfied. The new shoes are treated and I even got out some old sandals and boots and made them all pretty again. Bonus... rub the excess mink oil into your hands to moisturize after you're done.

Giftable kit
I recently received this "KIEMT Premium Mink Oil Kit for Leathers,Cleaning,Softening and Preserving Leather Goods,Best for Boots,Shoes,Harness,Sofa,Lounges,Chairs,Handbags,Car seats, all Finished Leather Surfaces. Sponge&Towel" because I have a number of leather (or faux leather) items that are starting to age and have been neglected for far too long. This kit comes with everything you need to refresh your leather gear. Whether it's a piece of apparel or a piece of your car, if it's leather (or leather-like), mink oil is a great conditioner to keep it from becoming dry and brittle. It helps moisturize the leather and extends the lifespan. The mink oil itself is contained in a small round tin, much like shoe polish, and comes with a zippered carrying case with room to hold the oil, as well as the included 2-sided sponge and microfiber cloth. I'm not sure I needed a carrying case for it, but I do like having all-things-mink-oil-related conveniently kept in one specific location. It soothes the OCD monster in my head. This mink oil kit is priced at $15.99 as I type this review. I didn't realize until after placing the order how much higher in price that is compared to numerous competitors. However, this is a "kit" and not just the mink oil by itself. Definitely worth having, and personally I this one is worthy of consideration as a gift idea. It's a good kit, but whether or not the price is appropriate is a judgment call you'll have to make on your own. ;-)

Good kit, great price!
This is a great mink oil kit. I think these are intended for boots, but I use mine on belts and a leather case that was showing it's age. The mink oil is smooth with no chunks. The tools are good, especially for boots. I use a brush and a rag for larger pieces. I like the case this kit comes in so I don't have to worry about the cloth and buffing bar collecting debris or the wax seeping into other materials on warm days. If you need a simple can of mink oil, there are affordable options out there. If you need a kit to get you started, this is the one you want. I recommend it.

This claims to restore luster and make leather more supple.
As far as the luster claim. The boot on the right is treated. They are the same set and of course have been worn equally. You can see a difference. It's not dramatic, but it's there. As far as making it more supple. The before pic of the belt shows a section folded over and stiff. The after shows it more relaxed and open.I do believe the claims made. They are not as dramatic as the pics in the listing, but it is worth it.

Perfect For My Work Shoes
I have some nice, leather, work "dress" shoes that I wear everyday. I have some that are Stacy Adams and a pair of Rockport boots. Over time the leather will start to fade and crack, which is normal. This mink oil brings them back to life.I make sure the shoe/boot is clean from any dirt with just a light soap and water mixture. After they have time to dry I lightly apply this mink oil and it makes the shoe/boot look brand new again. Not only is it a cleaner but also a conditioner to preserve and protect the leather. For anyone with nice leather shoes, boots, belts, purses, etc... I would highly recommend this product!

This Has Worked Great..Read Below..
I always wanted cowboy boots since I was a kid. Now that I am an adult I can do what I want lol. I bought two pair of boots. I want to take care of them really well so I came across mink oil to help protect them and make them last longer. The price was right so I placed my order. The mink oil arrived fast, maybe 3 days if that. I immediately put it to work. It goes on easily with the brush/sponge. It really brings the color out of them as well. It makes them a tad darker but I think they look nicer. I definitely recommend. There are knock off fake mink oils out there so be careful and fully read about products...

Excellent!
This is quite a nice little kit for maintaining leathers. I got it to clean up and protect my boots as we approach cooler temperatures this fall and wound up testing it on my 20 yr old Hobo wallet first. It cleaned up so beautifully and the leather looks and feels nourished. There is no oily residue and I am extremely satisfied with this product. The kit comes just as pictured. There is a tin of mink oil, a sponge for application, cloth for buffing and a carrying case to contain it all. The smallest complaint I have is about the shape of the sponge. Being rectangular, it only the edge fits in the tin. I think a small round sponge is a better option but it is not inconvenient enough to remove a star.
