Very useful for a vexing chore
For many years, peeling and-deveining shrimp was a tedious, manual chore using a paring knife. Over the last two or three decades purpose-designed tools for peeling and deveining shrimp have been available. This set covers every aspect of that process. The two tools in the set used in tandem will make easy work of both shelling and deveining. They are well made and the stainless steel used in truly stainless. There is now no reason to avoid peeling shrimp for whatever purpose you may have in mind.Highly recommended.

Handles are dangerous
The shrimp cleaners work and they are solidly constructed. HOWEVER, the inside of the handle where you grip are rugged, sharp metal and if you slip, you will slice open your hand. There is no way I would give these to a child or my wife. If I decide to use these, I will put them on a grinder (or use a file) to round off the edges. To leave such a rough edge on a hand tool is unimaginable. Until now. As a side note, these come with the manufacturing tape still on them and it takes about 15 minutes per tool to get the plastic tape off of them. Unsatisfactory on this count, too.The deveining tools are also very sharp, but in the right places. These tools are good and would have garnered 5 stars. The handles are a bit small for my big hands, but they are comfortable and I can zip through shrimp quickly with these. I do recommend keeping the blade guards because if you go rummaging around in the kitchen junk drawer and find these with out the blade guards, they will be penetrate to the bone. They are essentially very long, narrow knives. Be very careful with this set.

Deveiner works well!
The media could not be loaded. First off, the shrimp peeler tools come with a thin white rubber coating that you have to peel off before use. This is quite time consuming and tedious, so set aside some time and patience for this and be careful of the rough sharp unfinished edges!Once that is taken care of, they do work to peel the shrimp decently although I can do it quicker and easier by hand. The stand out item is the shrimp deveining tools, I have always found that to be a messy time consuming job and these work really well, making it quick and easy with minimal mess with their nice sharp curved blade. Because the deveining tools are very sharp, they come with a plastic cover to protect both the blade and you when not in use.

Eh...chipped paint?
On two of the shrimp peelers...actually has chipped paint? Why Not make the whole thing simply with stainless?Wouldn't really recommend to anyone, even to the world laziest shrimp lover.

Works very well, is convenient and easy
I was tires of my plastic shrimp deveiner. It essentially separated the shell from the shrimp by sliding it into the space on the back of the shrimp at the head, then it crumpled up the shell as it was loosened. That, however, is all it did. Minimal assistance in shell removal, nothing to assist with the vein, etc. This set is very different, although it is a similar process of sliding the arm of the tool into the space above the vein, from the head down to the tail, then squeezing the handle to force the shell from the body. It seems to work much better than the slide method. The second tool is a barbed sawtooth for cleaning out the veins and butterflying the shrimp. This is a neat little kit for those of us who like our wild caught, non-processed, easy to peel, shrimp. Of course it also works fine with farmed shrimp. I will test it on a crayfish this winter when e do a crab-boil.

Peeler sort of works but not very effectively. It's fun, though!
I love prawns but find it hard to peel hot ones and it's really messy, especially for ones cooked in garlic butter, so I thought this shrimp peeling and deveining tool set would be ideal.Firstly, the peelers come covered in protective blue plastic which is a little fiddly to remove and the handles are very sharp, especially when washing them up. The idea is that you have to remove the prawn's head by hand, then insert the curved blade down the curve of the prawn's back, all the way to the tail, squeeze the handles and then that will slice the shell which falls off - in theory, anyway. In reality, it's huge fun but very messy and not nearly as effective as expected. The shells kept breaking as the blade tried to curve down the spine or would only split bits at a time. It was easier than peeling without them, meant - apart from removing the head - that I didn't feel that my hands were burnt BUT it's not the smooth action expected and took longer than peeling them by hand. And it was messy, so much so that the juice squirted over a metre away from our table when we used them on garlic butter prawns. I'd expect similar from cold prawns or hot ones in soup, curries etc.I didn't need to use the deveiner but it's good to have it as an option and it looked very sharp, 3*

only the peelers arrived
I received this set expecting two peelers and two deveiners, but only two peelers arrived. While they are sharp and can do the job of peeling shrimp, the quality isn't the best—feels a bit flimsy and the edges are a bit sharp. They work okay for the task, but I was disappointed by the missing tools and the overall build quality.
