Replacement for 2006 smoke detector
Shipping took a couple of weeks. It was a replacement for our 2006, hardwired detector and seemed to be easy to install (by my husband.) Appears to be working fine, but then again it was just replaced yesterday.

Perfect replacement
This 2W-B replaced a 23 year old 2W-B fire smoke detector. It was a perfect replacement. In my situation I wired the new unit the same as the old unit. Unit tests good.

Self Installed to Replace Original Smoke Alarms
Perfect Replacement for Old Smoke Detectors. Ordered these as replacements for all of my home smoke detectors. They were the same make and model as the original. They are supposed to be replaced after 10 years. Did not have the install the new base. The outer core fit perfectly, taking only minutes to replace at a fraction of the cost had I used the alarm system technician to do the work.

worked fine for DIY replacement
My house has these installed already by the builder 17 yrs ago. The code says they are good for 10 yrs so I had to bite the bullet and replace them. after calling many local vendors and all of them refused to sell to non-professional client like me, I took a chance and bought from AMZ. The vendor FIRE & SAFETY PLUS returned my inquiry w a mfg date of only 2 months ago do I bought from them despite the price being a little higher. They arrived in about a week and indeed the mfg date was accurate and all 8 detectors worked fine - a blinking green light appeared after installing. Installation was simple since I left the base plate with the wiring in place and simply twisted off each old detector and twisted on the new one. Glad I didn't hire a professional to do this simple task. UPDATE: MAY 2022 We are required to get an inspection from the Fire Dept before selling a house in MA. When the FD arrived and tested some of these detectors, some of them took over a min before the audio signal is activated. Needless to say I did not pass the inspection. After they left, I tested each of the 8 detectors and MOST OF THEM had over a min delay. Only a few activated the audio signal instantly. This is where I really want to praise the vendor I used: Fire and Safety Plus. They were willing to send out 8 new detectors so that I can switch out the defective ones. I received the new badge within 4 days and were able to get 8 working detectors out of all 16. They provided a postage paid sticker so return shipping was free. So I highly recommend this vendor, even if they cost a few bucks more just in case you run into problems like I did.

Worked right away after installation
I have 2 of these hardwired smoke detectors installed in my house from the builder, one of each floor. I think these are the beginning of the fire alarm loop, the rest of the detectors are wired in with a battery back up. The house is almost 18 years old and the two originals lasted until one went recently and it showed a fault in my alarm system. At first I thought I'd call the alarm company, but then I checked here on Amazon and found the exact match. I unscrewed the bottom part and screwed it into the original base. The base has no working parts, no lights, no chips, it's just a wire connector base, and it was identical. I screwed it in, cleared the fault on my alarm system, and the green light on this detector starting blinking to show it's active. So, thanks to Amazon carrying this, I saved the money of a call out visit from the alarm system monitor. Very happy, nice product, prior to this never had any issues.

Replaced a Gamewell R7 with no problems.
This style of detector is more of a professional installation with a fire alarm panel. I had a Gamewell R7 sensor go out connected to the Zans 400 control unit with a 2 wire system. I just followed the provided wire diagram and it worked with the system or is compatible. I have some smoke alarm test spray to verify the operation of the device. Using the test spray is more of a confirmation than pressing any test button if you are serious about testing your system. The R7 has been discontinued for several years so I had to do some digging to find a sensor that would be compatible with the system.
