Great route into poetry for reluctant children/teens
Karl's poetry is a breath of fresh air, and pitching it to more reluctant kids as 'rap' is a wonderful way to get them thinking that maybe poetry isn't what they first thought. The poems are short and totally relatable, on topics and with ideas they can understand, and they can introduce some brilliant use of language. What's really lovely is the accompanying notes on each poem, giving the reader an insight into what Karl was thinking when he wrote them, rather than having to guess at a poet's intentions!

Karl Nova’s rhythm.
First heard about Karl Nova when he zoomed in to my class at school. He was lively, cheeky and full of motivational energy for young minds and inspired them so much they created amazing poetry.

Refreshing
A wonderful collection of poems. I particularly like the explanation of each one. I already have plans and ideas of how to use some of the poems in class.

A must-have for schools!
I've just found this book in the Institute of Education, where they had this collection of Nova's really quite versatile poetry on display. Each poem is accompanied by a short explanation or story from the poet, giving younger readers or those new to poetry an insight into each poem.I'm left buzzing with ideas of how I can use this in my classroom (English teacher), particularly as I'm a not-so-secret slam poetry fan, and I'm sure my little people will love this book too. Well done, Nova!
