It works the way it should. Instruction can be better written though.
I got the first one in early December for installing a dual channel dash cam on my new car. The installation was very smooth. Before that, I have installed a dual channel dash cam on my other car that it drained the battery after parking it in the garage for a few days without driving. The parking mode did drain the battery. Fortunately, I have an auto battery charger at home and I just bought a new car (that was the reason the car stayed in the garage for a few days). To avoid this problem, I ordered this one before I installed the camera in the new car. It works so well that I got another one a month ago to install in my old car. I used those add-on fuse taps and my cars have fuse boxes inside the car under the dash (or on the side). The difficult part was finding an always on power line. Once I found the right fuse to use for constant power, it took minutes to finish the installation. There are a few brands available in the market. This one was the cheapest one at the time I ordered it (both of them). One complaint I have is the box came with double-side tape that does not work well particularly if the surface is slightly curved.. In fact, it makes more sense to use Velco instead as one may want to take it off to change setting. I use #M industrial grade Velco tape that works very well for this purpose.

Don't buy this. Get magic pro instead.
Horrible quality.

Distance between on/off thresholds needs increasing to prevent oscillation
Good overall. Two minor complaints prevented me from rating this with 5 stars:1) The documentation was in Korean, and it took me quite a while and some black-belt-level Google-Fu to locate the instructions in English. For most things you don't need instructions, but this has dip switches and some non-obvious options, so it's pretty much vital. Since I didn't see lots of complaints about this; it could just have been something missing in the one I got.2) If you already know what Hysteresis is (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hysteresis), you can skip the next paragraphWhen you design a switch controlled by temperature (thermostat), light (photo switch), or voltage (this device), you have to include some hysteresis in your switch, or it may oscillate. Imagine you have a switch that turns your porch light on when it gets dark. When it gets just dark enough to activate the switch, a light comes on. This increases the amount of light, and the switch promptly shuts off. This decreases the amount of light, and the switch turns the light on again. The result is that your light flashes. Hysteresis says that once this thing is switched on, it has to get more than just a little brighter before it'll switch back off. What I've seen with this device is that when it reaches the minimum voltage threshold, it shuts off my dash cam. This reduction in load on my battery causes the voltage to go up a little, causing the device to switch my dash cam back on. Over and over and over until the voltage drops so low that it's below the threshold even when my dash cam is off. This is worrisome to me, because the dash cam writes to an SD card, and powering on and off over and over on a frequent basis might corrupt the data on the card. I'm still playing around with the minimum voltage setting in hopes of resolving this, but at very least, the distance between the on and off thresholds needs to be increased to prevent oscillation.

No instructions!?
When I received the package, it only had Korean instructions, but a URL to "get an English manual" well it took me to forum which needs me to either download some app to read them, or make a profile. Im upset that they cannot support their own English instructions. Yes the wiring is straight forward, but I won't have a clue what the dipswitches do, without jumping through hoops. Comon...

HERE ARE THE INSTRUCTIONS!
For those who are considering NOT buying this power unit because of all the whining about the instructions being in Korean/Chinese and not English, I found the instructions, downloaded them and posted them below in .jpg form. It took me all of 45 seconds to find, download and print the instructions using Google search. I don't understand all the whining!

Works as Stated, Easy to Install, Cameras Are Always ON
I've only had this in the truck for about a week, but so far it's fantastic. I don't have a "dash cam", I have a mobile DVR running 4 cameras, all with separate motion detection. That tends to run my battery down pretty quickly. I had a Lukas battery pack, but it malfunctioned and every time I came back to my 2000 Nissan Xterra, the cameras were off. In fact, I think it was draining the battery even faster.Since replacing it with this, the cameras have only turned off twice, both times over a weekend when I have not started the car in over 24 hours. This works exactly as expected and was very easy to install. Two add-a-fuse kits and a ground. The hardest part was deciding where to put it. I'm very happy with this purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone who runs a dash cam or mobile DVR system.

Does the job
Initially I was considering not getting this at all for my dash cam. They really don't draw enough juice that the auto shutoff should ever be needed as long as you start your car once every few days. However, after moving up north and seeing what a hard cold can do to a battery I am glad to have it, since it probably saved me from a dead battery several times.I do wish it came with a few wire splicers so that it can be hooked into the fusebox without needing a fuse bypass or anything similar. You need the red 18-22 gauge wire splicers if you want to go this route.http://www.amazon.com/Solderless-Wire-Quick-Splice-Connector/dp/B0041PF5QYI also removed the female 12v receptacle and instead added two spade connectors, with the matching connectors on the dash cam end. This greatly reduces the amount of space needed to install the cut off.

Easy to install and use
Seems to be working great. Installation was pretty easy. Instructions are pretty clear once you find the English version (found in the reviews section on Amazon). I wired the constant wire to a constant location in my fusebox, switched wire to my cigarette lighter, ground to a bolt, and superglued a 4-port usb charger into the cup. Now I have constant hardwired usb ports inside my dash for my phone and tablet without worrying about my battery discharging.

Spend more to get this over cheaper sub 20.00 hardwire kits!
While this may cost 3-4 times the amount of cheaper hardwire kits that don't have time cutoff or more voltage cut off it's well worth the money.First hardwire kit I installed was a sub 20.00 one on my first car and it works well but I'm constantly worried that my battery will drain for camera being on 24/7.So for my wife's car I got this kit since it will automatically shut off through timer and has more voltage adjustment. Last thing I want is to have the camera drain the SUV battery and have my wife suck somewhere. Its not any harder to install the other kits and the documentation is pretty straight forward. I also got this kit because my wife's SUV has the auto start/stop feature just like my own car and my camera would turn on and off from time to time when I'm at a light. I don't have this problem with this kit, so if your car has auto start/stop this kit is a must.Wires are way longer then required, but other then that great kit and great customer service. Seller emailed me a few days after I received my item to make sure I didn't run into any issues.I would buy from them again

Camera works fine when I plug it into a constant powered plug ...
Product has failed multiple times, either shutting down almost immediately or has let camera run all night. Only has a one month return policy so I'm stuck with it. Feels cheap when you hold it and wires are smallest gauge possible. Not sure what I was thinking when I installed it. I think I had more faith. This morning it caused such a surge that it caused the dash cam to need a full reboot. Camera works fine when I plug it into a constant powered plug so I've eliminated that issue. Don't buy this one.

Does the job
It works for me. But pricey, considering that the product is basic. The cigarette adapter looks so fragile. First impression was : its not worth the money. But since its usefull, I have to shut up. Yet, should sell this item for cheaper.

Best hardwire dashcam accessory.
Use it in my BMW 340i with Blackvue dash cam. Read many other reviews and this is the best direct power solution for any dash cam.

Three Stars
Good product but installation could have been easier if English instruction had been included.
