As our kids got older it became harder to successfully pick out gifts and surprise them. When I realized that I was returning more gifts than they we keeping I had to find a better way to deliver a thoughtful gift.I tried gift cards, but all to often the gift card would be at home in their rooms when the kids wanted to use them. Annoying. This issue was further compounded when they transitioned to using their own bank debit/credit cards. So IF they remembered to bring the gift card(s) it became an ordeal running multiple cards then finish with credit card. Add the huffing-and-puffing of customers behind them waiting for each card to run and total, and this too was an epic fail.Then I came up with using Lego people or sets to "represent" the intended gift. You never really outgrow Legos, so you can't lose on that side of the equation.I knew my son wanted a new skateboard deck. I had no clue what specific brand or features. I check Amazon, little dude arrives a few days later, he gets wrapped up with a note, "This is for the skateboard deck of you choice."They still have something to unwrap and goof around with (definitely better than a gift card), and once they make their purchase they give me the receipt and I transfer money from my account to theirs. Easy. This mom no longer stands in line to buy or return gifts. Woo-hoo.

This guy is so cute! Bought for my son who loves a mini figure!

Was perfect little toy for my 6 year old. Gave it to him right before an 8 hour road trip and he loved playing with it.

My grandson loves legos and he loves skateboarding, so this was a grest gift.
