Beautiful
The hand is great - the joints all work beautifully, it balances nicely on its felt base and it adds an interesting aesthetic to my desk. It's also great for holding and displaying jewelery. The only problem I have with it is the thumb. It's impossible to see from the picture above, but the thumb joint is too far into the palm of the hand. When a hand is flat the thumb juts out directly in line with all of the other knuckles, but the mannequin hand places the thumb too far forward and inwards, as if it were trying to reach into a small jar. The hand is indeed anatomically correct, but added to the fact that the fingers can only move back and forth and not side to side makes for a stiff model. It's impossible to achieve dynamic poses with the hand, and therefore I can't use it as a drawing model like I purchased it for. It is, however, a big help with achieving understanding as to how the four fingers move. This hand can be used as a decent anatomy lesson if taken with a pinch of salt.

Helpful
I bought this to help me plan wood carvings of animals. It is well made but it doesn’t really move enough to get the action I was looking for. It will be helpful just not quite as much as I had hoped.

I will call it George...
My eldest daughter is a pretty fine artist and she requested another one of these to compliment the one she had.It can be struck into a number of poses, seems to be a good quality item, and it does not talk back, request money to go to the movies or eat very much at all. These are all bonuses in my book!Another great purchase as it "does what it says on the tin" and does not take up a huge amount of desk real estate. Buy two and have conversations with them. win every argument...it is a great feeling.

ordered female mannequin, received male
I know the differences in proportions are small but I chose this brand because I was looking for a female mannequin that wasn't part of a set of 2, so I'm pretty disappointed to have received the wrong one anyway.

so-so
if i could give this a two and a half star rating i'd have done so but i can't, and two seems a little harsh.anyways for what it is, it's not that bad, yet not amazing either. i bought it cause i was working on a piece of armour for a hand and needed to mount it on something. this seemed like the best solution at the time but turned out to not work at all. this was because the thumb isnt really all that moveable, it can move at the joint as seen in the picture, but (for people with a little anatomy knowledge) the flexor pollicis brevis area is totally solid and therefor constrains many of the natural looking positions a hand should be able to display. otherwise, the fingers moved quite nicely and naturally but only in the direction of the joints, in other words, they can't be splade outwards.i can see that for a (very) basic sketching of a hand or displaying some jewellery this might be usefull, but otherwise for the price i ended up paying with shipping i'd reccomend looking for something else or making a chiken wire modle hand in the position you need as i did for my project. that depends on how 'hands' on you feel like getting.. sorry i had to :P

but given that it was not broken I had no problems with it although I was annoyed since something else might've happened to it
So I've been using this mannequin for 3 days now and here's what I think about it:First things first, the packing in which it came, which it had a cylindrical shape, was not closed at all, it didn't have a lid for it to be well secured inside of it so when I opened the box where my other items were (I ordered about 3 more items together with the mannequin) it's head was already sticking out of the packaging, but given that it was not broken I had no problems with it although I was annoyed since something else might've happened to it.- At first when I took it out of the box, I gave it a general look for which it seemed to be well built, nothing broken or nothing missing.- The mannequin is much more tense in the joints than what I thought it would be, now I can really tell if this is something good or bad given that I do not know how tense is it supposed to be but I didn't give it much thought since it was new and I realized it was probably going to get much easier to work as time went by and it's joints would loosen up a bit.- Finally, and this is something which really bugged me , further inspection showed that the legs were not centered to the front of the mannequin but rather they are more leaning to it's right, this can be seen mostly when sitting down, this obviously hinders the posture of the mannequin and your drawing when taking different positions, at first I let it slide but 3 days have passed and it has proven that for certain things it's rather tricky to draw given that it's legs are favoring one side more than the other, I am now debating on whether I should return it or just accommodate to it's flaws.Overall, this 12 in. male mannequin by Art Advantage is greatly built and sturdy, came with everything it said it would but I am displeased to see that parts of it's structure were not carefully put together.

Perfect gift for budding artist
I purchased this Art Advantage Dog Mannequin for my grandaughter who is abudding artist. She loved it and stated she didn't even know they madethese. I had gotten her a people mannequin a couple of years ago. This oneseemed a better quality and all the positions you can bend it into, once againshe was thrilled.

child size
It's helpful to find a child size. But how about a left hand also?

It came in good packaging and does it's job for simple poses
Doesn't articulate the ways I expected. The waist joints are stiff and refuse to move to some normal positions, and many pieces (most noticeably the legs) are held on by some sort of glue. It came in good packaging and does it's job for simple poses, but for anything outside of different standing poses you should look elsewhere.

Hip joint is fused.
The hip joint is glued, so you can only move the legs forwards and backwards, not sideways. That's pretty limiting.
