Great deal!!! Will update as time goes on with more use.
Yay I'm the first reviewer for this stitching pony!!!! Sorry it's not often you get to go first... LolSince my review is first I'll do my best to provide as complete a review as possible to help you know exactly what to expect should you order one!****Edited to update information on leather clamped in bare jaws for a couple days. There was slight marring on the leather after a couple of days. Not much and to see it I really had to use the light and turn the leather at an angle to see most of it. With this in mind covering the jaws with leather is of course a must!!!! No points lost however simply because they'll all do this without leather padded jaws. Virtually all stitching ponies that isMy apologies for not providing a picture as I forgot to take one and used that piece of leather to test out some new tools. Oops! LolEnd of edit***$22.99 that's what I paid for this. Just about the most affordable one I saw listed on Amazon. Being new to leatherwork and desiring to make knife sheaths and holsters as well as a few other items and having read All Stohlmans book hand sewing leather I felt that having that third hand would be very beneficial. So for little more than the price of a case of beer I ordered one up! It arrived today and this is what I think....Right out of the box I saw it's packaging was a plastic wrap like you'd use in your kitchen. Ok I thought, affordable packaging, no frills, cut some expense and pass it onto the buyer I hope? So I unwrapped it and held two pieces in my hands. The base and jaws. The base has two holes in it. One twords one end and one in the center. This allowing the user to decide just how they want to use and position it for work. I liked that! The bolt and wing nut were in the hole closest to the end.It took no work to assemble the pony. My fingers didn't fit into the opening very well but spinning the bottom of the bolt rather than the wing nut had me in business in no time!Looking the stitching pony over closely and figuring out how to use it (no instructions provided) was pretty intuitive even for a newbie like me. I do however have a mechanical mind so maybe that helped? Either way it's simple to use. Flip up the red lever, open the jaws, insert finger lengthwise to check clamping force and put lever down all the way. Yeah I'm that kind of guy, got to check it out with my natural feeler gauges!!! Clamping force was quite firm without being painful. I've known some women who would take up leatherwork just to have one of these stitching ponies, but I digress.... Lol.So it clamps well. Firm but not hard enough to cause impressions in the leather. My finger was held securely I think. Lift the lever and remove finger painlessly. Then proceed to run my fingers and hands all over it to check finish. This thing is smooth!!!!! Very smooth!!! Someone took some time with the sander!!! Even the inside face of the jaws were extremely smooth!!! I'm impressed with the finish work and detail of finish work on this thing!!!! The inside face of the jaws where the work is held is smooth enough on mine that I may not need to line it with leather however I will just to be safe. It's that well finished!!!!Moving on to the hardware used and assembly... So the screws are put in straight with the heads sitting flush to the woods surface. No rust anywhere. All metal hardware appears to be nickle plated. All hardware used appears to be suitable for the application and not undersized or cheap. The lever that opens and closes the jaws does so smoothly without binding. I did ok, on my own accord I did back a nut up the screw to sit against the wood opposite of the lever just because that seemed right to ensure no movement. Granted it could have been secured against the rod section of the lever. I've put up a picture of this area. There is no hinge used for movement of the jaws just the springy nature of the wood and location of the locking lever mechanism to determine pressure. I don't find this to be a negative as I find comfort in simplicity and I don't feel one is needed due to the design of this stitching pony.I will clamp two pieces of the lightest weight scrap leather I have in the jaws overnight just to see if I have to line mine although I will all the same. Someone somewhere may find it helpful so I'll do it.i have done this. Leather in the pony I'm guessing it's in the 6-8 ounce range. See picture. The base has a rounded edge on three sides of the top. Not sure why they didn't round off the last edge but sitting on it I find no discomfort. I have a boney butt and no backside for what it's worth. Positioning the jaws in either hole and sitting on it in either position is comfortable.Height of the jaws relative to myself and mock stitching seems to be just about right to me. Like this stitching pony was built to Western body structures and sizes rather than Eastern. I'm pleased with that! I'm~6'-1" anymore. So there it is for now. I'll update and finish this review tomorrow however the short of my summary is it's a well finished solid affordable buy that's built to the standards not commonly associated with Chinese goods!!!Updated with pictures and I'll update this tomorrow with pictures of the leather ends that are in the jaws.

Economical
Perfect for what I needed. Great price for beginning leather hand stitching.

DOES NOT include leather for jaws.
I haven't had a chance to use it yet, but the quality seems comparable to other clamps I've seen. However, be aware that this stitching pony does not come with the leather for the jaws. This detail is mentioned in the description, if you scroll down far enough, but the images shows the leather and there is a photo providing instruction on how to adhere the leather, as if it comes with the product. Not a deal breaker, but was one of the reasons I ordered this particular version.

Does not tilt only rotates
Although not expensive, the jaws are about 3 ", it does not tilt, always strait up. You would be better off building one yourself or letting a wood worker build one for you.

standard sewing pony horse
This is a pretty standard leather sewing horse. You can adjust the tension to clamp your pieces very firmly. The only thing I wish it had was is leather pad coverings that are shown in the picture. Had some nice thin leather and was able to easily glue on my own, but if it had come with them I would give this 5 stars.

there is a screw
I thought there wasnt a screw until i flipped the jaws upside down, people are saying it doesnt fit, is there a recess for the screw in the lap plate? mine has one. Please look it over and understand the mechanics before leaving a review.

cheap, but does the job
out the box, you can tell its extremely cheaply made. . used it on four projects already and it works perfect and hasnt broken on me, so its worth the money. no complaints

Works well enough after I modified it.
I give this 5 stars because of the price and because it works well enough. I modified mine by putting a longer bolt on the clamp (Be aware it is 4mm) and by creating a stronger angle on the jaw that moves so it can opener further. The bass attachment is not the same as in the picture as it has a threaded insert. This means you can't turn it without it being lose. This will have to be changed. I have used it a few times now and it works fine for 1/4 the price of one in Tandy however I had to modify it.

Great for the price.
This stitching pony is pretty good for the price. So glad I ordered it. Now I can quit bugging my Husband to build me one.Just as good as Tandyโs and so much cheaper. Still waiting to try it. Fast shipping.

Bad Quality Screw
Used maybe for 5 projects and the screw that allows the pony to turn snapped off inside the pony so it cannot be taken out anymore. The strength of the screw was very poor.
