It's a bastard file and works as such.

Under $5 and worked exactly as needed for my project. After I used a bolt cutter to shorten some metal screws for a living room side table, there was concern about puncturing our new microfiber couch & love seat with the rough edges. This file took the rough edges off the four shortened screws in minutes. Great value and works perfectly!

Walmart has these for $4.50 but Amazon had them for $5.00 with free shipping. I chose Amazon so that I did not have to leave the house. It is a good product for the price and free delivery and I would buy it again.

I was looking for a metal file for a gift to my grandson. He is in welding in school and practices a lot at home. He needed one for home. The quality and price were right so I placed my order. The file arrived fast and without any damage. I have given it to him and he texted me and told me he really likes it. It does steel really quickly and the handle is put on really well. I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I am glad it is going to get a lot of use.

I used the file on steel and also on an oak board. It worked great on both materials. The attached photo shows a close-up of the oak corner I rounded over along with the eased edges.The handle was comfortable and the chips cleared out of the file easily.The 8" length is good for holding on both ends to guide the file and to provide even pressure.
