There is no REM detection so it’s a crapshoot as to whether the lights flash when you’re dreaming.

Once you learn how to lucid dream, your dream world is whatever you want it to be. However, after my first successful day of lucid dreaming, I had the worst nightmares of my life the NEXT day. They were so bad I have to assume it was a rubber-band effect.
