Great for children dealing with deployment of a parent
I am a counselor and this book is great for children dealing with the deployment of a military parent. It has activities for before, during and after the deployment to help kids process the experience and make it through. I recommend it!

very cute and fun
We've only just flipped through a couple pages but it's clearly a very great, creative way for kids to express their feelings and emotions leading up to deployment day and all the way thru to the end. My 6 year old can't wait to start this weekend with her dad she loves coloring and little puzzle games in the book. It's not really age appropriate for my 4 year old however can't do a lot of the puzzles and isn't really interested in coloring. But I did see several of the crafty things, like making a mail box with shoe boxes to put letters in, that will hold his attention and we will all have fun. Overall I really like it, I'm using it as a reference though. I'm going to cut pages from that and put them in a scrap book filled with photos and letters and school drawings. I would recommend this book to children 6 or up. Any younger I would just get on pintrest and find free ideas for crafts that they can do and enjoy.

Great activity book
We order this for our sons, it is very interactive. Both your child and the deployed parent are involved. By mailing pages of the booklet back and forth. It has definitely helped my children out of this deployment, and felt more connected, and understanding. It is sections off with Getting ready for Deployment, Deployment, Getting ready for reunion, Reunion.Plenty of activities from Look at my growth activity, Time difference, welcome home cards and banners, to puzzles, even educational pieces.Helps your little ones understand and cope better with one parent being so far away.

Love it!
My husband will soon be leaving for a lengthy deployment. I just got this for my son. He is almost two; so some things are a little too old for him to fully understand but it is great because it allows us time to talk about the upcoming changes. The title is "deployment and reunion" but there is also a great pre-deployment section. I have not gone through each and every page but from what I have come across by browsing there are some wonderful ideas and projects to get all of us through the entire separation.

Good for kids of deployed personnel
I got this book for my 7 year old daughter when I deployed to Afghanistan and she's really enjoyed the activities and it has helped her cope with the separation and understand why I had to go.Its lasted her most of my extended deployment and given her things to do when she's bored and thinking of me.

Great resource for preschoolers about to go through deployment
I purchased this book for my 2 and 3 years old boys before their Dad was going to leave on a year long deployment. I found a lot of deployment resources were a little too advanced for their ages but this one fit the bill perfectly. It has a variety of activities, coloring pages, and worksheets to help very young children grasp the concept of deployment and understand what it happening as well as building a sense of pride in their Dad's service. I would recommend getting this a little before the deployment as there are some activities at the beginning for the child to do with the deploying parents as well. Its also great this comes in a "Mom's Deployment" version as well.

Age level isn't as described. Otherwise, it's a good book.

A must have!
I bought this book for my 3.5 year old daughter a week after my husband deployed to Iraq. I wish that I had thought about things before he left as some of the activities in this book deal with before you leave and the day you leave...but it still is very good. I've started recommending it to all my friends who are going through the same thing. My daughter is definitely on the younger side for this book as it has dot to dots, writing sections and other sections that are mildly advanced for her. We still make it work and I'm ver happy that we have purchased this. I actually wish that the Support Services on base would supply these books because I think they would be a great addition to pre-deployment packages for kids!
