Couldn't get enough!
I find Linda's 1st book in the "Spriritual" section @ Dulles Airport. Somehow Tao & Equus seemed an odd pairing, but being "spiritual" & having finished my 1st season @ a thoroughbred racetrack (& within days of starting my 2nd), I "knew" I had to pick up the book. Amazing journey! And this is further, deeper! And as usual, brought tears to my eyes! As a veterinarian, I very quickly came to understand animal "communication" -- if only on the most superficial level, nevermind "picking up" Life stories. But both of these books reinforced stuff that I was "sensing" @ the track, that I was sure I was imagining! Then I realized I really wasn't! Did take awhile in the 1st book to get past my perception of "sexism", being a male, but realized the preponderance of women in the equine world & their relation with horses makes total sense. Continue to recommend either book to everyone involved in ANY way with horses!Peter L. Brown, DVMUGA '87

Beautiful book
I was reading this book in bed last night. The book is about horses being reflectors of the human experience. An insight in the book made me realise that my daughter plays a similar role in our lives. When we adults are upset but refuse to acknowledge our upsets, she bursts into tears or has a tantrum. When we don't acknowledge that role in our children, we can damage them. It is a lovely book, blending equine and human dimensions and written by someone who loves and understands both people and horses.

I really enjoyed Tao of Equus
I wanted to read this book to explore more about the nature of the human horse connection. I really enjoyed Tao of Equus, even though it took me months to read it, so I wanted to further my learning in this area. Riding between the Worlds has captured my imagination like nothing else I've ever read. I thought it would offer me some "tips" to incorporate horse energy into my coaching, and it has. But so much more than that - it has changed the way I think about myself.

new perspective on human and horse
after I read the Taos of Equus (which I found fascinating but very deep concepts) Riding Between The Worlds was a refreshing look at counselling people and understanding the psychology of horse honesty and human honesty and how quickly it can work once the human is honest about their feelings at the moment they interact with the horse. This is a MUST READ. you will find that one of the clients in this book you will relate to or that you know someone in the same state and I found myself wanting to meet Linda and take a friend in need of this counselling down with me to Arizona!

Riding Between Worlds
Though overall this book is too "new age" for my taste, I believe Ms. Kohanov probably does a tremendous amount of good pairing horses with people and solving inner or repressed emotional conflicts at her ranch in Tucson, and in the clinics she presents. I found the examples she sited very believable for both horse and person, and truly believe horses can heal emotional wounds. I very much agree "it is never JUST a horse!" Horses reveal our deepest secrets and conflicts, they sense these before we even can give them words. I liked, and I promptly employed, the technique of telling my horses things about my life that I believe make me similar to each one. The horse always listens, and the verbalization is good for both. This book adds understanding to our relationship with horses by making the reader more aware of what the horse "knows" or senses immediately about us, and thus makes us more open to the horse.

awesome book...... I appreciate these wonderful creatures with even more awe than before. thank you Linda
This book struck me on so many levels. Not growing up with horses, I had no idea how awesome they are. At age 53 I started taking riding lessons and didn't understand why I didn't want to leave the stable. Now I have some idea, which is only the tip of the iceberg. I believe this book is a must read for all who work with horses. I now have a better idea of what it means to be mindful when approaching a horse, and accepting what messages the horse maybe communicating, and not passing it off as my imagination.

One for the heart
A mind-blowing read that some (the rational thinkers!) will find difficult in parts. I loved this book, it made a good follow-on from the Tao of Equus. I've always loved horses and I've ridden some of my life and watched my pony-loving daughter encountering the horse world. Some horsey people are sensitive, perceptive and intelligent, just like horses, some are rather harsher and horses seem to be a vehicle for their egos, 'just animals' to be bossed around and discarded when they don't measure up. The way I saw some horses being treated made me very sad and I don't spend much time around them now. This book restored my faith in the better kind of human and in the possibilities of inter-species communication.Linda Kohanov's writing is inspiring, I think she's doing great work in the world. I can't judge how 'true' her connections with horse ancestors are but her weaving of her own ancestral story with the work she does now is moving and does have a ring of truth for me. It feels like a return to an older, intuitive and more mythical way of being that is being lost in our increasingly pacy, electronically driven world. I couldn't put this book down, especially the last few chapters and I do highly recommend it. But it won't suit the cynical and negative - read it with an open mind and heart.

An Extraordinary Book
Didn't think it could get any better than 'The Tao of Equus' but this book builds and expands on the ideas presented and contains many extraordinary examples of Linda's continuing and deepening journey with horses and how they can help us to reconnect with our true selves. Truly groundbreaking and authentic, I found something to touch me deeply on nearly every page. I would highly recommend this book to horse lovers and anyone interested in self-development and the evolution of the human spirit alike.
