Not a good buy
After using this on my sailboat i realize that its not a 6.5 hp as they say.Its about an 2 or 3 hp .The same boat that the Hangkai 6.5 couldn't move a Honda 5 hp moves with no problem

I love this motor! I added a few things you may want to know.
Hangkai 6.5hp 4 stroke water cooled outboard engine.I was looking for a small inexpensive outboard motor. I thought about air cooled but they are noisy and somewhat ugly, also it does get pretty hot here so I was afraid of overheating (both me and the motor). I found the Hangki water cooled and thought why not? Here are some things I found that may help if you are considering this motor. Before it arrives there are some things you will need:1. Engine oil, 10w-30 is recommended. It will take about ½ quart (16oz).2. Gear oil, 85w or 90w. It will take about ½ pint (7 to 8 oz).3. A gear oil pump, about $5 at Walmart. Make sure you get one that comes with a Yamaha adapter, that's what you will use.4. A catch pan for the gear oil. These engines are test run before leaving the factory, in spite of telling you they are shipped with no oils there will be some left in the gear box and it will make a mess if you don't catch it. You can find instructions on how to fill the gearbox on Utube. Here's what I found out after receiving the motor:It looks good, real good, very nice looking. Also included are a gas tank, fuel line and bulb pump (a real one with marine fittings), a spare impeller, pull rope, spark plug and tool kit (nice). The reverse lock, trim and raise lock (for launching and trailering) are all stainless steel. The engine is easy to start and runs well. Even at half power (break in) it moves my boat as fast as my old 5hp.It should be noted that the shaft length is advertised as being 15”. Mine is about 17-1/2 from top of transom to the cavitation plate just above the prop, fits my boat great. Noise level is about the same as any other small outboard.Notes: DO NOT USE GAS WITH ETHENOL! I don't recommend it in any small carbureted motor. Ethenol is nasty stuff, it draws water into the fuel, rots fuel line and corrodes carburetors. Non-ethenol gas or marine gas is available most everywhere. The best we can get around here is 87 octane. I would like a bit higher octane but the motor runs fine on 87.Please follow the break in procedure and this motor should last a long time.About salt water: I use mine in salt water and like other small outboards “ear muffs” won't work to flush sea water out of the motor. I have a plastic barrel with the top 1/3 cut off. I place it under the outboard and fill it with clean water, then run the outboard for about 5 minutes to flush out the salt. A short piece of hose works to siphon water from the barrel to empty it.

Good motor
I bought the 6 hp 2 stroke hangkai for my 10 ft jon boat and it runs like a scalded ape. Pushing about 20 mph on a smooth lake
