It's true these are not full blackout curtains, but they do darken significantly, particularly behind existing non-blackout curtains. Our bedroom gets full morning sun and these have improved our sleep a lot.Most importantly, we had previously purchased full blackout curtain liners and, as many had commented, after a while the OTHER liners started to emit a terrible, chemical off-gassing odor. This was worst on the full-sun side. If you do a survey of Amazon's fully blackout curtains, at least some reviews on every single one mention bad odor.In contrast to some other reviewers, I found the rings, which are exactly the same as "binder rings" you can buy at the office supply store, ridiculously easy to use. Yes, if you have very little grip strength it could be a problem, but you want them to be firm-close so they will stay on the rods! Each liner took about 30 seconds to get onto the rod.THESE Driftaway "mostly-blackout" curtains do not emit odor, are soft to the touch and do block a lot of light. I bought two pair as a test, liked them and purchased more for my other windows.

Stop looking for awesome room-darkening panels because you've found them. I have a 1-year-old with a bedroom that takes intense sun during the day. I bought so-called room darkening curtains before he was born, but they don't do a very good job of keeping the sun (and accompanying heat) out of his room. This causes problems at naptime because he gets too hot, even in the winter. (The sun basically turns his room into am oven. ) I didn't want to buy completely new curtains because I was happy with the way the current ones looked, and I didn't want to roll the dice on another pair of curtains that claimed to block out 99% of light to fall short. I was looking into sewing room-darkening fabric onto his existing curtains when I stumbled across these little gems. I just got them today and I'm already thrilled. From the moment I opened them I could tell they are very nice quality and would do a good job. I took a picture of his window with only 1 panel installed. To show what a great job they do at blocking out the light. They are pretty heavy so if you don't have a middle support for your curtain rod I think it would cause it to bow. My only semi-complaint is that the rings show a bit but I know I can figure out a way to conceal them. Having said that, this method is way easier than sewing it myself. If I change my opinion about these panels I will update the review.

The good is that they are super easy to install and you don't even notice them. These are not really blackout curtains - I need them at night to block out my neighbors porchlight - will see tonight if they are good enough otherwise I'll be returning them. Attached is photo in afternoon light - with one panel installed on left, right is not installed.Update: these have worked out really well. I actually like that they aren't complete black outs. They allow enough light in during the day but block out almost all of the outside light at night.

This room gets the direct sun every day and these curtains have definitely reduced the heat from those windows. There are a great value and do not compromise the look in the room. I liked them so much, I’ve purchased another set for another room in my house.

I love that theses allow me to use them behind more light filtering curtains all on the same rod. I don't like the fabric most of the light blocking curtains are made out of especially in my 30-40 for a whole set price range. The only way to arrange my furniture so everyone can easily see the TV is to put the TV across the room from a large window. Without light blocking curtains seeing the TV at all during daylight hours, especially in the afternoon/ early evening is next to impossible because of the window glare. These block all the light and they are a thick heavyweight fabric. So they also help blocking the Texas heat coming through the giant west facing window or the cold during the whole 30 days we get that are cold. These are HEAVY and you need a decent curtain rod, they would bend something cheaper like a thin tension rod. Very pleased with my purchase and very surprised of the quality for the price.

I'm very pleased with these. Out of the bag they are ready to hang. Zero odor. They make a huge difference. I bought light colored light filtering curtains. The window is south to southwest facing. These block that light significantly.Don't love the rings used to hang them- you can see them between the grommet holes, but not a deal breaker.Highly recommend.

I’m a day sleeper who has a south facing bedroom(which means my bedroom has all day strong sunlight to come in), so I always need a REAL blackout curtains liner to help darken my room during the daytime. I’ve tried many blackout liners in the market but was unsatisfied. Some liners has a chemical coating which do help to reduce the light and noise but has very bad smelling and plastic touch, other liners with hooks that are very painful to install and hurt my curtains.Now I’m so glad i found these innovative blackout liners. They are made of very thick and soft fabric, that do help to filter out 95% of the sunlight during the day and keep a better room temperature. Thanks to these liner, my wood floor wont get burned after a whole day sunlight grill. The color is light gray, good looking even hanging alone. The length is just perfect for my 84 inch long curtains, half inch shorter than the front curtains so you wont see liners. In addition, it only take me 5 mins to hang them up! Very easy to install and totally no hurt to my expensive curtains! much better than my old liners which rely on hooks to fix on my curtains. For the workmanship, they are sewn nicely and smoothly, heavy duty, worth every penny i paid. I would definitely command this products!

These are great blackout curtains. Came with an extra two rings, they were easy to install and really do the job my room is nice and dark. I haven’t had them on long enough to tell whether it makes a difference with the temperature in the room

They do the job and look good. Easy to hang and clean. Fair price

They arrived ahead of schedule. Hung them up behind my current drapes immediately. Easy enough to hang on existing hooks. Front of house faces south. As you can tell in one of the pictures, they block out a significant amount of light. The room does feel cooler. One panel had a couple of snags but it’s no big deal as I won’t see it behind the west facing window curtain. The reason I gave them a four star is because the loops are not sewn equally apart as shown in one of the pictures. This makes spacing and hanging the loops along my drapes a little tricky. Other than that it works very well and there’s no smell emitting from them even with the sun blazing down on them. Also it does look like there are three layers of fabric woven together to make one layer. I had to cut one panel in half, to fit a set of drapes, and it frayed showing the three types of thread.

Worked perfectly! Little bit pricey but i guess you get what you paid for and these definitely paid off. Also, very easy to hang.
