How to scratch a wombat!
As an Australian I have found this book to be the best book ever written on wombats. The information enclosed within its pages are the most accurate description of wombats that I have ever found. We call them "Bulldozers of the Bush" here in Australia and if you ever have the opportunity to see them they are a fascinating creature.Farmers around Australia classify them as pests but as I have the opportunity to care, raise & release three, I have found they are a wonderful animals that are misunderstood through ignorance only.Jacki French's book if used in schools would teach children around the world that wombats are fascinating Australiananimals. The stories she has written regarding their antics when playing is so true, watching them build their homes in places they probably shouldnt and the fact they bite your legs and you'd swear they find it funny. The pictures in the book are spot on,the illustrations describe clearly what they look like, how to identify theirscats, footprints and where to find them here in Australia.I believe that Jacki French has produced a book that when you read it you can better understand these strange butvery lovable creatures of the Australian Bush.I would definitely recommend this book for children & adults alike. "5 star+"

Beware Library Remainders!
The book is great! I agree with all the stellar reviews, which is why I gave it 4 stars. Why not 5 stars? Because this particular book, bought as “used” (no new ones were available at the time), turns out to actually be a library remainder, and a reputable seller would’ve listed it as such. This makes it completely unsuitable for giving, which was my original intent (see photos). The seller is Spotlight Books, and I have expressed this concern to them. That all being said, if you just want a great book about great critters, and it isn’t for a gift, have at it!

My kid wants a wombat
My 9-yr old is big into wombats, but there aren't too many books written about wombats for kids his reading level. This one was just right. There are pictures strewn throughout the book to make it visually appealing and the book is actually pretty funny at parts. It is a cute book about wombats' lifestyle, based on the author's experience with many different wombats. I read part of the book (he finished it in a a couple of days) and we both learned things we didn't know.

You can become an expert on Wombats!
My wife returned from a visit to Australia earlier this year with a couple of Jackie French's wombat books which were intended as bedtime story books for our grandson. Ha! We liked them so much we bought the entire series, including this one. We particularly recommend it since it contains so much information that adults and older kids can use to answer questions about wombats when the little one asks.Okay, so maybe you won't be an expert on wombats after reading this book, but it and the other Jackie French books will be a delight you can share with your children and grandchildren.

How to scratch a Wombat
This is Jackie French's best book so far. I purchased 4 copies, have already given them all away and will buy more! Anyone who likes Wombats and has read "Diary of a Wombat' will enjoy this book. It was wonderful to learn how she got the idea for the book 'Diary of a Wombat' and other books she has written. The illustrations by Bruce Whatley are also wonderful.

How to scratch a wombat
This was another wonderful Wombat book I bought. If you want something unusual to give as a gift to your child, or grandchild, I would really recommend buying this. It's instructive, very humorous, and the drawings are so striking !! Adults will love the Wombat books & Pete the Sheep book too !! :-)

Mignon!

Great book to grow into after Jackie French's wombat picture books
My daughter discovered wombats via Jackie French's picture books for young children, and this fact-packed non-fiction book provides everything the casual observer could ever wish to know about these appealing creatures. Such a well-loved book that it currently resides under my daughter's pillow at night. All we need to do now is to arrange for her to meet one in real life - not easy when they only live on the other side of the world from us!
