Very good poles/easy to pack
If was skeptical about these, as I already have a very good (and expensive) pair of trekking poles. However, the TSA no longer allows you to carry poles like these on the plane, and I needed something small enough to pack in my 22" duffel bag for a trip to Iceland, Most do not collapse down to less than about 25 or 26 inches, and won't fit a bag that small even on the diagonal. These got very good reviews, so I decided to take a chance. I ordered two of them (one is good, but two are better, in my experience, especially for those of us who are bit older than most hikers). I had some trouble assembling the first one, and finally determined it was defective. The other one was fine however, and I think will work great for this and other trips. The company was extremely responsive, tried to help me figure out how to set these up (I got personal communication, in addition to the video and still photo they send you). They were also very prompt and responsive when I told them one was defective and processed my refund very quickly. So I am overall very pleased--only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that I had to reorder to get 2 functional poles.

Fantastic skiing poles.
This poles are excellent. I had recently picked up cheap poles for a ski weekend which were aluminum. I felt they were a little tall but ended up bending one half way through the day. I didnt really care because they were so cheap. So when I returned home I started looking for adjustable poles being I ski various terrain I needed longer poles for big mountain skiing and shorter poles for when playing in the terrain park. So i found these which work fantastic. They come with different feet so you can use these for hiking as well. For skiing the come with 2 size baskets. One small basket for groomer skiing and one wide basket for powder days. The feet are easy switchable. The only thing you need to do is make sure the quick release brackets are nice and tight when you snap them into the length you need or they will slide a bit and get shorter if putting a lot of weight on them this is easy to adjust though. I woukd recommend these to any advanced skier who skis all mountain terrain. I don't hike but if I did I would certaintly be happy with these poles. They also collapse to a pretty small profile that fits in a bag that comes with them which is great for traveling or strapping to a backpack if you think you might need them during your hike. Light weight but strong.

Work well at first, but won't last
Overall: work well for the money but they don't last. They're simple to use with the included instruction, though over time they become more difficult to extend and don't slide so easily into and out of the folded position. Also, you will lose the rubber tips immediately, they just fall off too easily. We lost all 4 of ours within a few weeks. Not a huge deal since we don't really use the poles on asphalt, but if you plan to I would look for a different set of poles. The biggest problem is these poles just don't last. The inner red cables are built to withstand repeated use. We are fairly frequent hikers and one cable snapped after ~2.5 months while another snapped after ~8 months of use. We bought 4 so we still have half of our poles working ok after quite a bit of use, but even for this price I would've expected them to last longer. All in all, I'd probably try a different set of poles next time so I don't have to repurchase new ones so frequently.Last of all, this company has poor customer service. I contacted them directly to ask if they have a warranty after my first pole broke at 2.5 months. They responded quickly, but didn't directly state whether or not they had a warranty and only offered a 20% refund ($4). So basically, don't expect them to stand behind their products even if they fail in less than 90 days.Overall, it's a bit of a roll of the dice with these poles. I initially loved them and figured I just had a bum pole when one broke so quickly, but now that I've lost half my poles in under a year I wouldn't buy these again, even for the price.

Design & Assemby Issues
I am annoyed! The product comes with four labels - three with pretty pictures I guess you use as bookmarks!? The fourth has lame assembly instructions that are in two point lettering and useless anyway! I had pieces fall out of it at the top, and even after watching the video, had trouble getting it to stay together. I suspect it was a return, since the tip was already on it, and the handle over-extended. I still can't get the upper adjustment (by the handle) to stay at a higher setting no matter how much I tighten the screw on the white clamp. After adjusting the strap length, that piece keeps popping out making me think if I slipped, the strap holder would pop open allowing the strap to fall off completely, which would be dangerous too. Leaning my weight on it, as one would do in a rough place, the pole bends noticeably, so I am not sure how much I could trust it in a rough hiking spots, which is what I got it for. Can't decide whether to just return it, or try it on a trail!

Hiked the entire Colorado Trail with these poles
I hiked the entire Colorado Trail (474 miles) with these poles. For the price, I was not expecting much but I needed poles that collapsed to take on an airplane. These poles exceeded my expectations. I have paid three times the price for poles of similar quality. I gave only 4 stars because there were a couple of times when the pole would disengage where the small metal "button" meets the metal pole and I needed to spend a few minutes trying to fix it. This was not the end of the World but mildly annoying. Great product worth your money.

Sturdy, lightweight, compact
Light, sturdy compact. The nut/dial that tightens the latches that adjusts the length of the pole has a very fine 'lock' point. Too tight and the latch doesn't close, too loose and the pieces slide together when pressure is put on them. The pole collapsed as I was coming does a slope and I almost fell. I did test it with a good pull beforehand. Cranking the nut a tiny bit, maybe 3 degrees, was enough to keep it from sliding. Grips where comfortable.

fixation dragonnes
