very underrated litter!
When my wife brought in our cat (out of the blue) I went on a long research journey trying to find the best litter for her. It took me six months and lots of experimenting with different litter types before I settled in on this litter. I dont really know why more people are not using this since its far better than other litter types. Here I will explain why:1- No dust. I tried many clumping litters that claimed they had no dust, they all had dust.2- No tracking. This litter tracks less than any other litter. Maybe one or two pellets every time my cat uses it which is far better than tons of dust and little particles from clumping litters.3- No scent. This absorbs urine smell really well. Poop smell is something else though. But if you clean the litter every day and you pair this with the litter genie (found on amazon) or another method of storing the poop away in the proper way there wont be any smell.4- This litter forces you to clean and check the litter box everyday which is a good habit. It takes very little time but you can keep an eye on your cat's bathroom habits. I think this is a plus. Also I can see her poop and can make sure she is healthy and make sure she is getting enough water etc.5- It's really light! compare to the clumping litter this is super light.6- Good for the environment! The problem with this litter however is that you will have to learn how to deal with it. It's not as straightforward as the traditional litter and requires a bit more skill and attention. Here are some tips:1- Depending on how deep your cat likes to dig for covering her poop, you need the minimum amount of litter. So maybe 1-3 inches deep. For a single cat I throw all the litter our every once in two weeks and clean our the litter box and start again with fresh pellets (this is in addition to the daily poop scooping of course).2- There are disposable litter boxes that are super cheap (also found on amazon) that would go really well with this type of litter. The problem with me was that my cat likes a very large litter box and none of those disposable litter boxes were large enough.3- To know whether or not there is poop in the litter, I flatten the surface of the litter with the back of my scoop every time after I clean it. This way if she uses it she will dig and I know that the litter box has been used and then i check to see if its poop. If its poop i take the poop and flatter again, and if its just pee you just flatten it.4- cleaning the poop is the trickiest part. The pellets are dark and so is the poop. Also you dont want to smear the poop all over the pellets when you are digging for them. I use both a scoop and a thick rubber glove to find the poop. Also if you let it stay there for an hour or so it will be easier to take it out without making a mess. I think clearing out the poop without having to throw away good pellets is a skill that you will improve at as time goes by.5- I dont like to use a covered litter box for this type of litter. I like to see where she poops and I need to clear it out daily so its much easier to use a large open litter pan type.6- As I mentioned, you need to throw the entire litter content away and start new after a week or two depending on how many cats you have. The bottom pellets absorb the urine and disintegrate and over time the litter box loses its ability to retain urine. So you need to make sure you clear out the entire content as often as you need to (unlike clumping litter that some people just scoop and rarely clean out completely, here you have to do that). This might seem challenging but believe me, its worth it! better for the environment (made from recycled newspaper) , better for your cat (this is the litter vets recommend you use after surgery), better for YOU (less cleaning litter from the floor, and no dust). So please, give it a try! and if your cat doesnt like it make sure she has no other options, and over time they will get used to it.Also the sooner you get them started on this type of litter the easier the transition (add some of their old litter into this to get them interested).

Best odor control, no dust, no tracking!!
I got this with intentions of it being for temporary use. I got these adorable but CRAZY kitties front declawed*spare the judgement; they were not only destroying everything in my home, but my children were looking as shredded as my walls, curtains, couch, table legs, plants etc...I changed my mind about declawing and went for it*I was cleaning these boxes out multiple times per day, yet there was still a faint cat smell in my home. I had tried 5 different litters by this time, settling on original Fresh Step (not any of the other versions). It seemed to be the best option. I've also purchased air purifiers, scent crystals, and "Citrus Magic Outdoor Fresh" pods (which I LOVE and will always use), and bags of activated charcoal for the home. Still, I could smell a touch of cat in this house UNTIL I got this yellow bag yesterday's news to use while paws were healing.Smell is gone. I don't have to clean it out daily (though I still do for poo), there is essentially zero litter tracked outside the box, there is zero dust, and it is so incredibly absorbent! The smell is akin to fresh printed newspaper (understandably), or a slight lumber-type smell...somewhat resembling the smell of a newly constructed house (especially when I drop a cut piece of the citrus magic pod in).I had already purchased multiple bags of cat litter prior to this, so I went back to clumping clay litter to use up what I've already purchased. Multiple daily scooping, by day two of regular litter, I was dumping and changing it already. I decided to buy more yesterday's news, this time mixing it with my clay litter until I use up the clay stuff. Mixing the two works well also. I'm considering buying cheap clay litter to mix with yesterday's news in the future, making it last longer/cost less. It still keeps down on dust and tracking this way. This really isn't a very expensive litter anyway, especially considering it lasts much longer. Aesthetically, I prefer clay, but I keep litter boxes out of view anyway. It doesn't scoop the best becauSe the pellets don't fall through the scoop like clay, but that is such a non issue for me, especially compared to the benefits!Strongly recommend, if odor is what compels your litter searching.I still scoop it out every day since I'm home during the day, though I've gone 3 or 4 days without scooping with this litter and had no problem.

So happy these are back!
I buy these for my bunny and they no longer produce or have them in stock at petco. These are so good and clean. Dust free and scent free. I am so happy they are being sold again

Low Dust, Easy to clean, Absorbent
This is my favourite litter. I worked in a vet clinic for over 12 years and we always used this here are some reasons it could be good for you:I find as long as you clean it often, full change every 3-4 days for a well used box, scoop all poops as you see them(the dog lets us know every time a cat poops so we are on it pretty quick) the odour control is great. We have multiple cats and litterboxes, some boxes are their preference for a time so those get cleaned at the 3 day mark, others can go longer. One cat might be every 5 days to a week.Easy to clean, no clumping at the bottom of the litterbox, if there is a clump just give the box a tap and it comes loose to dump in the bin. Very absorbent! If you have a cat with longer hair who squats too low to pee and presses into the litter, this won't get wet and end up in the fur (I have one of these cats) this shape works better than a more gravel/granular brand.Cats like it! Gentle on their feet and it does track but not much. They are made of recycled newspaper.Safe for rabbits, I used this with my Flemish Giant for years. In my opinion this is the best kitty litter on the market. Safe, non-toxic, works great

Great cat litter - does what it's supposed to do well!
Great cat litter! I would say this is my first experience getting cat litter as my previous cats had access outdoors and went to the toilet outside. I recently adopted 2 adult indoor cats from the shelter who are litter trained and they seem to like YN cat litter. To me, it works great! Did lots of research before purchasing this and I wanted something to cover the odour of the litter box, not much tracking and easy to use. This is exactly that! When the cats cover their poop it really masks the smell. Not with any artificial smells tho, it just neutralises it well. Nice! It absorbs wee from the bottom of the tray so I tend to scoop out the poop first then dig around for wet spots to get rid of every day. Of course there is a bit of tracking but I think it would be worse with the sandy or clay litter types.I think it would work a lot better and save litter according to the previous commentor's suggestion. I'm going to try and make my own cat litter sift. Think I'll stick to this cat litter for a looong time. :)

Amazing switch away from Arm and Hammer clay, will not look back
I was super skeptical about this but I wanted to try. My first litter was a clumping clay from Arm and Hammer called "Double Duty". That stuff worked well for cleaning, but the scent was horrendous! Alone it was nasty but add water (nevermind cat waste) and my whole apartment was stinking. Also my cat was tracking it everywhere. So I wanted to give this a whirl as a replacement but I had concerns over the smell. I thought part of the issue was my cat was just plain smelly, or thought maybe it was the pate wet food I was giving him. I tried this and it turns out it was just the bad Arm and Hammer litter. The wood pellets in this don't smell when they're unused or even used. They absorb waste very well and leave no scent until you get in close and clean it. When my cat goes, if you're next to it immediately after, there's some waste smell of course but it goes away very fast even when my cat doesn't burry it! I'm shocked! It doesn't track either which is great. Unused pellets sometimes fall out of the litter tray, but only around the box. My cat doesn't take the pellets with him. Nor does he try to eat them.Cleaning is the hardest part. I only have a scooper on hand and I've read that shaker sifter trays are best tool for the job so I'll try that. But I haven't had too much trouble so far. When the pellets get wet, they turn dark and puffy or completely into what I'll describe as "soil". It's too thick for my scooper to shake so I just scoop and dump out what looks dirty and used. I do end up losing a few unused pellets, but at this price, I honestly don't care at all. The benefits are just too good as well. I've gotten pretty good at cleaning it though and not wasting too much unused pellets.

Brilliant litter for cats
Brilliant litter for cats. Absolutely no cat urine smell and lasts well. Minimal mess. Does eventually breakdown into smaller pieces and get dusty but this is after roughly a week when I change it. (Two kittens using this).
