Good basic introductory book, especially if you're new to cichlids and/or fishkeeping. Easy to read and easy to understand. If you decide you do want a cichlid tank, this should not be your only book. There is very little information on different species, and no information to guide the new aquarist on how to pick compatible cichlids for a tank. Some example stocking schemes would have been helpful to readers.

Good book. Still a little basic so if you're a serious hobbyist with good knowledge some might still be basic but there is still some over all really good information.

Love it. I had another book by this series. Lots of nice colored pictures. I recommend this book to anyone looking for A chiclid:)

Pretty much what others said about it being something you might find in Wild Kingdom or Jack Hannah. Some very basic stuff, but don't expect much detail on specific species. Good book for someone thinking about making a home for Cichlids as it gives novice somethings to consider if starting out a Cichlid Tank.

There are better typical fish books out there, but this does have some helpful cichlid-specific tips... Worth the money for first time cichlids owners

It helps you understand the basics to get you started. I would recommend this book to others. Easy to read and understand.

For a beginner, I think it is a great book for $10. Sure you can find all this information online. I don't know why someone thought this book is "for sixth-graders". After reading this book you probably will not be able to keep discuss. However it contains enough information to start with some simple cichlids.
