They fit but....
This fits and works very well. If you are installing a stereo without a cage that it slides into, and is relying on screwing into the factory stereo brackets. It's not a direct fit. This dash kit moves the stereo down a slot. You will need to measure and drill some holes in the metal bracing of the counsel to make it work.

A perfect fit!
I'm a big fan of 96-01 saturns - mainly because of their awesome fuel economy - so I've used a few of these over the years. Every one has fit perfectly and enabled me to install a radio that was much better than the factory unit.Don't forget your Metra 70-1858 Radio Wiring Harness For GM 88-05 Harness and your Metra 40-GM10 GM Antenna Adapter which you will also need for the installation. And, of course, a new radio! Also, let me include a brief public service announcement along with this review. If you're buying this, you probably own a saturn. If you own a Saturn, it more than likely burns a significant amount of oil. If it doesn't - just wait a couple years. It will. A google search will tell you far more than I can type here about how and why, but just let me say this:-Check your oil. Often. Until you know how much oil your car burns, keep a really good eye on it. Too many of these cars get blown up because the owner didn't want to take 30 seconds to pull the dipstick.-Use only synthetic oil. Conventional oil creates sludge, which is what slowly glues the oil control rings into place and makes your car burn oil in the first place. Synthetic oil is a good preventative measure.-Add a little Marvel Mystery Oil and/or ATF when you change your oil. This will help break up the gunk that causes the problem mentioned above.Sorry for the sidetrack, but I'm sure some people will find it helpful. Oh, and enjoy your new radio.

Decent
There are two little things you might be interested in. One, the color and the texture are identical to the '96 Saturn plastic that it inserts into. Good move. I'd buy again in a second.

Factory look in a 1998 Saturn SL
This item worked very well in a1998 Saturn SL sedan. Just make sure you insert the new radio parts in the correct order (with my Kenwood KDC-152 In-Dash MP3/WMA CD Receiver , it was sleeve first from the back, then secure the dash kit, then slid the head unit in the front), or you'll end up installing and removing it several times like I did before you figure it out. :)I used a Metra 70-1858 Radio Wiring Harness For GM 88-05 Harness and Metra 40-GM10 GM Antenna Adapter , which worked nicely. The wiring harness required splicing to the head unit first, of course. I used Home Depot butt splicers for that.
