John E. Freund's Mathematical Statistics with Applications 8e

If you're taking actuarial exams from IFoA, then this book will be quite helpful. For general understanding of the subject the book by mendenhall is quite good.

This is one of the beautiful book, large number of problem, which help gaining better understanding.I wish there would have been all the solutions/explanations.

A mathematician Feast. Statistics decoded in Calculus way. its a core mathematic book. If you are just statistician, Please do not buy.

Very well explained but introduction is needed & it takes own skill to further develop but doesn't follow rules of mathematics & gives feeling of stupidity.

Good book if you are just looking for practice material. Includes short summary of all topics and problems.

It's a good book, concisely written with lot of questions.

Barely different from the Canadian version and a fraction of the price. Would recommend. It's missing a few questions but clearly states which ones it's missing. I've only counted about five that weren't there, and got them from the library's version. All is well.

Great text for anyone who wants to know what's "behind the curtain" in statistics

This book was the recommended course book by our lecturer. An honest verdict is the not bother at all with this book due to other alternatives. The are only answers for odd exercises which gets increasingly annoying and questions often refer to previous examples given 10 pages ago so there is constant flicking.Verdict: If you have lecture notes to aide or any other for of aide then you are better off buying a book that gives you step by step examples and answers to all question in order to aid understanding. If you are learning from scratch without aide then yes by all means buy.I bought this book and schaums outlines: Probability and Statistics and have scrapped this book in favour of schaums.( Book took 10 days to arrive which is reasonable considering its coming from otherside of the world. it was shrink wrapped. This is the same book as the European and American model which go for £55).
