Great Thermos. Keeps Food Hot for 4+Hours
The media could not be loaded. This thing is great! I love it! bought it for one of the kids and it works exactly as described. I read reviews first and put BOILING water in the container with lid for 10 minutes before filling with VERY HOT food. Steam-coming-off hot. I gave one of the kids the thermos one day, she said her food was warm when she opened it 4 hours later. I tried it myself opening at 4 hours and the food was nice and warm. Using a food thermometer I measured the food at 150 degrees. And when eating I actually found the food at the bottom (it was chili) was warmer than the top, so even hotter. We actually liked it so much that we bought two! Definitely a great buy!The key to keeping your food warm is a few CRITICAL steps:(1) Put BOILING water in the thermos for 4-5 minutes before adding any food. After heating, wipe it dry if needed then add food.(2) Heat your food to piping hot. Hotter than you would eat it. So when it goes in the hot thermos it should be very hot.(3) Get your timing down so that the minute you are done wiping down the thermos the piping hot food can go in.If you follow this, the food will be warm as desired. If you don't, it won't!While I use this mostly for food like chili and soup, we even tried a grilled cheese one day and my daughter was very happy with it. I do think that it got soggy, so I would recommend putting a napkin down at the bottom to absorb the condensation if you try that. Also, if you have little ones, don't screw it too tight. I do sometimes and my daughter needs help from the lunch room helpers. Just know that it may be difficult to take the top off, so proceed accordingly.I hope you found this review helpful. Such a great way to have leftovers for lunch
My daughter recently wanted to start having leftovers for lunch instead of sandwiches so we ordered her this. I read other reviews stating that their food was cold by lunch but took a chance and here is what I found. One, macaroni and cheese is almost cold by the time you put in on the dinner table, so bad choice for this. Two, you have to properly heat the thermos. I add really hot water and screw the lid on. This keeps the water hot and also heats the lid so when you put in your hot food it isn't losing heat by warming up the lid. I have put lasagna and meatloaf in the thermos and four hours later it is still warm. I microwave the food till it is hot then pour out the hot water from the thermos, quickly dry, and add food. There is no such thing as a product that will do these extra steps for you. If you want a conveniently small little thermos to fit in your lunch bag you have to treat it like a small little thermos. The extra prep time (which takes just minutes) insures a warm lunch. I would definitely buy this product again or give as a gift.Update: My daughter wanted to bring juice to school so we tried two methods. First we filled with water and ice and let it sit for a few minutes then dumped the water and filled with juice. 5 hours later it was still cold. Second we just filled the thermos with juice and then put it in the fridge overnight and juice was cold 5 hours later. She just loves this product.

Great little thermos!
Great hot/warm thermos for my daughter's lunch. Have sent her with a liquid (soup) and a solid (rice, vegetables, meat) meals, and both have stayed warm until lunch time. We heated the food HOT and filled the container around 6:30 am. Her lunch was at 11:45 and both days she said her food was plenty warm, almost too hot. We did put hot water in the thermos for about 1 minute before filling with the solid meal. She's 5 1/2 and is able to open/close the container on her own. I was worried about this because of the size, but she hasn't had to ask for help yet. The thermos washes easily. I can wash the inside with a sponge alone, the depth does NOT require a bottle brush to clean. Before purchasing, I did see comments in other reviews about the rubber ring in the lid dirty and/or moldy over time, but we simply remove the ring and wash it each time. We do this with all of our thermoses, regardless of brand and have had no troubles here. I wouldn't advise letting food sit for long periods of time or allowing food to 'dry' onto the lid, I could see where that would make cleaning tricky, but if you wash it timely, and clean the rig, you'll be just fine. The thermos did arrive with a small scratch (about 1/2 inch) on the outer surface. We contemplated returning but figured it wouldn't affect the function and it would undoubtedly be a matter of time before it found its first scratch or dent anyway. Given all the other positives, the scratch wasn't significant enough to influence our review. Great little thermos!

Hot meals on the go
Only had a few days and pleased so far. Boiled some water and let it sit in the container while scrambled an egg/spinach/cheese at 4pm, egg still warm at 6:30, a perfect temperature for kids who don't like super hot food. 10oz is quite a large jar, not sure how well it's going to fit in the child's lunchbox. Weight seems just right, It fits in a medium size purse with a water bottle. Container did not leak, but did create a bit of moisture inside the jar, but did not make the egg gross. Cleaned up easily. Next time will put a napkin in bottom to absorb moisture. Purchased for school lunch items and dinner on the go while watching sports practices.Update after a week of use: food is warm at best after 2 hours, would never keep something hot for 5 hours. I've tried extending the time of warming it with boiling water first and makes no difference. As an adult I prefer hot food, not warm but the kids will probably be just fine with barely warm.
